Story and art by Knyalisa; please be advised, the story borrows heavily from various world religions and folklore, and will occasionally deal with dark themes.
Hi friends! This story is a culmination of about 12 years worth of brainstorming and procrastinating. It was originally conceived as a shounen-inspired comic, but given the state of my health (not great) and the colossal undertaking this story would be as a comic, I decided to rewrite it as serialized fiction instead.
The text here is a roughly-edited version of the 2nd draft; I intend to collect the chapters into arcs, that will go through a developmental edit and hit those jam-packed ebook shelves as a novel.
For anyone following me here from Engram... Just expect a very... *different* sort of story. Engram was meant to be happy and hopeful, while this story is, well. I wanted to try my hand at the ugly side of things and see how characters deal with evil. There might be illustrations to go with the text (depending on my health) and probably some poetry.
Lastly, I have academic background in religions of the ancient Near East and draw influence from that. I have no intention of just bashing any particular religion, but I also will not shy away from the ugliness of some of their interpretations. It's been used for good and for great evil for thousands of years. That is what this story is set to explore.
In an alternative year 2025, where demons and their magic have been public knowledge since the turn of the century, a young exorcist struggles to reconcile his murky family history with the demands of his chosen profession.
