"This is bullshit!" Jacquelyn yelled, slamming a book.
"What is it now?" Her grandmother asked warily.
"Is this really how Cinderella's story is going to end!?" She said angrily.
Jacquelyn's grandmother nodded. "I'm afraid so."
"Can't we change it?"
"My dear, I'm a Fate, I can't mess with the future." Her grandmother said. Jacquelyn blew a raspberry and folded her arms. "And even if I could, I wouldn't. It's not my place to meddle in someone's life."
"It's not just someone, it's everyone! Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, all of them have terrible endings!" Jacquelyn argued.
"I see your point, but I still can't interfere." The Fate said solemnly. "And neither can you."
Jacquelyn huffed and puffed about how completely unfair the whole situation was before she huffed and puffed her way to her chambers with the Cinderella book under her arm.
Slamming the door behind her, Jacquelyn stomped into her room and threw the book across the room. Immediately she felt bad, she had been taught from a young age to never throw an enchanted book. She knelt down to pick it up and noticed the picture it had fallen open at, an old tree. With Magic.
"Magic." Jacquelyn thought. And then "I have Magic!"
She immediately flipped through all the books and noticed what they all had in common, Magic. "Yes! Yes yes yes yes yes!" Jacquelyn celebrated quietly. She could change these tales without her grandmother noticing! She just had to pose as the magic user.
Jacquelyn quickly started packing a bag for herself including the items; brush, extra clothing, some snacks, and of course her broomstick and wand. After packing her unmentionables she was ready to leave. She left a note on her table saying:
"Grandmother, I am angry at you. I have left for a short vacation.
Send me a dove if you want something.
-Jacquelyn."
She knew that her grandmother would be mad, but Jacquelyn had gone on many vacations when she got really upset about something so she thought it would be a believable explanation.
Holding her broom stick, Jacquelyn recited the incantation words. "Caelum rex." The broom started to float, and she climbed on top of it, grinning. She loved riding her broom, it was fast, and it could get her anywhere before her grandmother would notice her missing.
Jacquelyn rode her broom out of the window and onward for a short time before she was out of sight of the Fate's castle. She pulled out her wand and waved it, opening a portal.
"Time to go change some lives." She said while flying into the portal.
.
She flew for much longer then she would have liked, even after taking the portal as a short cut. Eventually she caught sight of the house she was looking for. She hovered above it for a moment before she saw a girl gaping at her. She went down to meet the girl and held her hand out to shake, the girl took it with her delicate hands.
"My name is Jacquelyn, are you Ella?" She asked.
The girl nodded. "I am."
"Then I'm here to be your own personal witch." Jacquelyn said proudly.
