I just woke up on a Friday morning from a really weird dream. It was about some kind of machine that was connected with cables to my brain. It was really weird and scary…

I went into the kitchen to have the breakfast my mom had just prepared for me before school.

I looked at her and said, “Mom, you are the best! Thank you very much!”

She looked happy and said, “I’m glad you liked it! Now hurry up and get ready for school…” She was very happy that morning.

I changed into new clothes, then grabbed my backpack and left the house.

On my way to school, I was thinking about what I should do in the future… A lot of people keep asking me what I want to do.

I always tell them, “I’m still thinking about that.” Either that or I say something crazy like, “I want to be a superhero,” at which point they call me immature or tell me I don’t have a brain.

But to be honest, I really don’t know. Maybe I’ll be a fitness teacher because I like going to the gym and could do something in that direction.

I had almost arrived at school when suddenly someone yelled behind me, “Ryuu! Why weren’t you responding to my messages yesterday?” It was my best friend, Yoshio.

I smiled at him and said, “I was doing my homework.”

He looked disappointed and said, “Boring…”

My classes had just started, and I made my way to class with Yoshio. We entered and went to our seats. I sat in the middle row, fourth desk. Yoshio sat behind me, in the last desk.

After we finished our classes in the evening, we left school, excited for the weekend. But all of a sudden, after I said goodbye to Yoshio, I realized I had forgotten my phone at school.

I turned back, and after walking alone at night for a few minutes, a creepy man with a pistol in his hand appeared in front of me and tried to rob me. He said, “Stay there… G-Give me all of your money and don’t make any sudden movements.”

In those situations, people usually have three main ways they can react: fight, freeze, or run. I chose the last option.

Without saying a thing, I started running into an alley between two buildings, but I got into a corner where I couldn’t run anymore, and then he came after me.

He said, “You made a mistake running away,” and started pointing the gun at me.

Then a loud boom could be heard.
