PLANET: THANAX
(alt. RAGE-PLANET / REDDENED EARTH)
Chronic Amygdala Disinhibition via Neuroinflammation
REPORT 0: PROJECT DETAILS
On January 1st, 3000, Romanian scientists, in partnership with NASA, transported test-subject primates infected with a neuroviral agent designed to induce unconditional rage to an extraterrestrial, previously uninhabited planet outside our central galaxy. The condition caused chronic amygdala disinhibition via neuroinflammation, enforcing permanent rage as a form of neurological homeostasis intended to keep hosts alive and functional.
The planet was originally designated Virgin Topsoil.
Behavioral outcomes varied significantly across species.
A sect of spider-monkeys located in Phoenix was first observed after infection. Heightened aggression toward others of the same species was immediately recorded. Monkeys attacked, killed, and dismembered one another. Reproductive behavior was markedly more violent than healthy baselines. When connected to an AI-based emotional detection system, infected spider-monkeys exhibited extreme elevations in fear, survival instinct, and rage.
Offspring born to these subjects developed abnormal physical traits. They grew significantly taller and thinner than baseline spider-monkeys, requiring newly designed containment units. It was noted that their physical appearance bore little resemblance to that of their parents, as though inherited genetic traits had been overridden entirely.
Using a scale of one to ten developed by Romanian researchers to categorize host aggression, these offspring were classified as sub-five.
In contrast, a gorilla sect exhibited drastically different results. Original infected hosts expired within days. During this period, several gorillas reproduced, resulting in multiple births per individual. Newborn gorillas measured approximately three feet in height and weighed an average of twenty pounds at birth. All observed mothers died during childbirth.
The offspring were monitored over a five-year period. By the fifth year, the gorillas had grown to anomalous sizes, averaging 7’1” in height and approximately 400 pounds of muscle mass. Subjects were frequently observed tearing leaves from branches and positioning them over their crotches. Female subjects displayed similar behavior, covering both their chests and groin areas with foliage.
Aggression levels in these primates were recorded as extreme.
Vocalizations were nearly constant. When it appeared that prolonged roaring would damage vocal structures, subjects ceased activity for approximately five to ten minutes before resuming. The vocalizations were significantly deeper than those of unaffected gorillas. Subjects routinely beat their chests and struck the reinforced, tempered glass of their enclosures, which represented the minimum structural requirement for containment.
A non-infected gorilla was eventually introduced to the enclosure.
Upon observation, the subject was immediately attacked. It was gored, torn apart, and bludgeoned. Cannibalistic behavior was observed shortly thereafter. Infected gorillas were determined to be the most severely affected species tested, while retaining limited cognitive function.
Subsequently, NASA astronauts and Romanian researchers traveled to Virgin Topsoil to conduct further in situ experimentation. The planet was observed to be nearly identical to Earth, differing only in the absence of humans. Three days after landing, all communications ceased. No further transmissions were received. No personnel were recovered.
The planet was thereafter renamed Thanax.
The only surviving materials consisted of fragmented recordings retrieved from unmanned drones deployed by NASA. The following reports are compiled from those recovered tapes.
