Seventeen-year-old Tory Burns is not only the celebrity son of Gale City’s mayor Diane Burns, he is also Everlux, the city’s most popular superhero. He keeps his identity a secret from his friends, especially Alex, Tory’s best friend and secret crush who despises superheroes like Everlux that commercialize their hero identity.

Alex Hale is the son of two superheroes who follow the Justice Code to a T, but after training for eight years with the Paragon Guild, he is kicked out for being powerless. Though he didn’t inherit any powers from his parents, he still dreams of being a hero.

Tory’s determination to keep his identity a secret is put to the test when his alter ego teams up with Alex to find and fight a villain controlling the minds of heroes in the guild. Alex helps him train to become a real hero, and together, they uncover the secrets of Gale City.
