In an age long past, a destructive war raged between angels, harbingers of virtue, and demons, soul-devouring parasites that brought darkness unto humanity. When only the Seraphim, angels whose might rivaled gods, remained, they used what was left of their power to seal away the most deadly demons. To preserve themselves, their remains fused with human souls, creating creatures known as Saints. As the Saints reincarnate across centuries, they stand as humanity's final bastion of hope, slowly regaining the strength needed to face the ancient foes sealed away once more.

Although Saints are revered as perfect heroes and paragons of virtue, the duality of their human folly and unfathomable divinity causes them to walk a fine line between remaining "themselves" and deteriorating into horrific monsters, bringing about destruction far beyond what any demon could inflict.
