At sixteen years old, Peni Araka has already experienced more than most people ever will
A student, a runner, and an intern of the SAIR, the powerful institution responsible for handling various incidents and matters, and being known for her love in lightsaber, Araka has gradually become known for her remarkable talent in Matake, a mysterious force that allows its users to develop unique spells that could put into fights as well as helping people.
When her instructor encourages her to become a shrine-certified Matake sorcerer, Araka travels north to Shimana Shrine to undertake a challenge that few people her age have attempted. There, she must develop a spell worthy of certification while learning centuries-old traditions preserved by the Shrine Network.
Certification, however, is only the beginning.
As one of the Great Chin Federation’s newest certified Matake sorcerers, Araka joins fellow practitioners from across the country in training, friendly competition, and investigations into unusual Matake-related incidents. Alongside old friends and new allies, she discovers that every spell reflects the person who created it—and that the future of Matake depends not only on preserving tradition, but also on those willing to build upon it.
