September 21, 1976,

We see the Gang huddled up at the school's lunch room. Piper then says...

Piper: "Guys, I have a lead, and you won't believe where I got it from."

Mongoose says mockingly: "Did you get this lead illegally? You didn't steal it from the police again or anything?"

Claire then says in a scared tone: "Oh God, why do I hang out with you guys? I'm tired of getting into legal trouble. They dug through my closet for answers Piper and trashed my room!"

Mongoose replies to Claire: "You still afraid of the police finding that picture of Danny shirtless?"

Claire: "Shut up, MaAAaaAynard!"

Mongoose stands up and points his fist at Claire's face, Mace stands up too and pulls him back, despite her short size. Then Mongoose says: "One punch Mace, that's all I want."

Mace says to him: "I know it would be worthwhile but I'm not going to let you go to jail again."

Claire gives him a smug smile and bites aggressively on a fry.

Piper: "Guys please, this might be a breakthrough."

They all look at Piper and calm down. The school bell rings. "Great" says Piper. Everyone, meet at the Pale, 6 o'clock.

How come the wait for school to be over feels so much slower when you want to do something? I can barely wait for 6 o'clock. I don't really know how it happened but this whole situation just doesn't seem right. This town isn't right either. The people in it and the people who run it are not normal. Every time I try to make a statement or even the moment I find something interesting, I am silenced. But I fear no man. This mystery will be solved. This may be a breakthrough in the mystery of Shadow Oaks.

It is now 6. The gang is now huddled in their hideout, the Pale. The place is near a landfill and the look of the place is familiar, but not too familiar. The small, strange building is shaped like a giant bucket with several large holes in it. The place is almost like a treehouse but without the tree and made of metal. It has been decorated in a way that it displays everyone of our friends personalities. Other than being a bit smelly, it's not that bad. Actually, it was kind of nice. We see our friends huddled around a table. Piper reaches into her backpack and pulls out a tape recorder. They are all amazed at what they see. Such hi-tech machinery in the palm of her hands. Mongoose then asks Piper...

Mongoose: Where did you get this?

Piper has an odd look on her face and says: My Dad's safe.

Everyone looks at each other and then Claire ask's: This isn't going to give us any legal trouble, is it?

Piper: I don't know. Technically this is Government property. So if anyone finds out, we might be in serious trouble. But you have to trust me on this. This could be a breakthrough on the mystery.

Mace: Piper, I know your inner Velma is itching for a mystery right now but are you really going to drag us into this?

Piper: I'm not dragging you into anything. At the start, I asked everyone if they wanted to have a little fun...

Mongoose says in a nervous tone: ...but the fun is over Piper, it has become something beyond our control. We are still kids. We don't know what we are getting ourselves into. We still have a whole life infront of us.

Piper interrupts: But do you want to stay in this dead end town for the rest of your life? Because in Shadow Oaks, you either work for the government for the rest of your life or get a job in a Mom and Pops store. No one leaves this town, and I need to find out why we are prisoners.

Mongoose: Then figure it out yourself if it means so much to you. But please, leave us out of it. I'll tell you this, if you ever need real help, we are here for you. Can everyone agree on this?

Everyone nods their heads except for Piper.

Piper: Fine, if everyone feels that way, I won't drag you into anymore of this. I'll see you guys around.

Piper then stands up and starts walking toward the night.

Mace asks: Where are you going?

Piper replies: I'm going to solve a mystery. I'll see you guys at school tomorrow.

Everyone looks at each other with a worried look on their faces.

We see Piper walking in the forest, alone. She walks in the direction of an old Government Facility. The one her Dad worked at. It closed in '71 due to unknown circumstances, but one thing is sure is an explosion happened. The mystery that is heavy on Piper's mind is why no one tells her how her Dad died. She was always told he died in the explosion but the details were never clear and the evidence was little. She arrives at the chainlink fence of where the facility is. As any regular person does, she pulls out wire cutters to open a way for her to get it. Now she is walking and she sees Shadow Oaks Government Water Regulation Facility. Yes, it's a water regulation building, and an explosion happened in it. How? Piper's question exactly. Why would an explosion occur in a water facility? This is how the mystery of  how her Dad's death became so prevalent to her. As a Teenager, you become more self aware. She alway knew her Dad was dead...duh...but when she added up the details, things were just not right.

Piper was thinking all of this when she heard a tree branch break behind her. She looks at where the sound came from. She sees nothing. She continues walking. As she is walking, strangely she hears footstep crunch leaves synced up with her footsteps. Piper is now a bit scared but doesn't think too much of it. Piper continues walking but stops dead in her tracks when she then hears a screeching roar that sounded nearby. She begins to run, she makes it to a clearing. She hardly realizes that she is now in the parking lot of the Facility. The roar becomes louder. She starts to panic. She runs toward the facility. The doors are locked, of course. The roar is heard one more time. Piper jumps behind a bush, trying to hide the best she can. Large footsteps are heard. Piper tries to cover her heavy breathing as much as possible. Piper looks through the small gaps between the leaves of the bush. From what she can see, the man is unusually tall. But he doesn't seem to have a face. The person turns his head toward Piper. He begins to walk towards her, she has nowhere to go. The question going through her mind. Who is this guy? Is a Guy? How is it making those noises? A fight or flight response happens when she sees its face before her. It doesn't have a face! It didn't see her laying on the ground yet. She got up and ran as fast as she could without looking back. Though not having eyes, its head followed her running. It roared and ran for her. As it was chasing her, Piper fell. It jumped and surprisingly, it didn't land on her. It was floating above her. Then the lights started to blink on and off like someone was flipping the light switch. A high pitched noise occured. Piper covered her ears. But it was no help. She could still hear it. She then rolls over trying to escape the noise, and she opens eye to look at the creature. To her surprise, she sees someone's feet in front of her eyes. She slowly looks up and sees the soles of a young girl. Piper has no time, she gets up and runs across the parking lot. The Girl starts to scream at the monster. The lights within a mile radius start to blink violently. The ground was shaking. Piper was still running but looking down, her legs were moving but she was stuck in one place. Piper turns around to see what is going on

The girl was still screaming at the monster. Then she started to float with the monster. The creature was screeching in pain. The girl then threw the beast toward the Facility. Causing all the window panes to shatter. Piper looks down and the ground is starting to morph into a machinery that is not from this world. A large beam of blue light shoots toward the sky and at the same time, Piper and the girl start floating toward the light. Piper is screaming, trying her best to stop floating toward the blue light. She and the girl are seemingly vaporized by the light.

Piper wakes up in the parking lot. She quickly stands up to see that it's still night. The monster and the girl are nowhere to be seen. She is relieved. She falls back down in exhaustion.

We see Piper walking in the forest cautiously, looking around and making sure she isn't being followed. After a long walk, she arrives at her house. She takes out her key and puts it in the lock. Oddly, the key doesn't fit. It's the only key she has. "Could I have grabbed the wrong key?" She pays little attention to this detail and just knocks on the door, knowing her Mom will come. The door opens and out comes an old woman. Piper's eyes widened. "Who are you?" Piper asks with a deranged look on her face.

Old Woman: I think I get to ask who you are first, you're the one at my door at this time of night.

Piper pushes aside  the woman and goes into her house. "Mom?! Where are you? Who is this woman." She says this going up the stairs. She opens the door to her room but none of her stuff is there. It's decorated but it's no longer her room. She goes down stairs, passing the old woman, and goes toward the front door. The woman grabs Piper's arm and says " Hey! Can we please just talk? Just for a minute? Please?" Piper looks at the clock, saying 11:42 pm, agrees.

The lady sits Piper down and brings a mug of tea for both of them. "Ok, let's start from the beginning. My name is Norma Rimirez. And your name is?"

"Piper...Piper Smith."

A chill goes down Norma's back. That name is familiar. She tries to act as normal as possible "Ok, we got that out of the way. Now, why are you here?"

"This is my house. My Mom and sister live here."

"What about your dad?"

"He's dead...he died in '71."

"Oh... I'm sorry." There is an awkward silence for a second. Then Norma says...

"Where were you coming from?"

"The Lab."

"Why were you there? Isn't that place fenced up?

"Yes, it is fenced up. I was going there for answers of how my dad died. He worked there."

Norma's face was frozen with fear. She gulps and says.

"Piper, I need to show you something. Come to the kitchen." Norma stands up and Piper follows. Norma looks through some drawers and pulls out a piece of paper. Piper looks at it and it has her face on it. It's a missing person report...for her. She looks up with a grave look and says "What year is it?"

Norma paused for a second and hesitated "November 3, 1983"
