Centuries ago elves warned of the darkness that magic creates as they left behind their brethren beyond the Western Gate. In the time that followed humanity came to worship the elves of the East as gods. Their seemingly eternal life spans and attunement to nature causing men to believe that bountiful harvests and healthy children were the result of happy gods, and famines and plagues were the result of their displeasure.

Now part of a generation of children have been born with magical talent, and the faithful have condemned them as a blight in need of purging. Ritual sacrifices of countless of children to appease the gods, parents abandoning them in the wilderness to die, and whole families being ostracized as tainted all in the name of the elves who condemned magic. To live in this time is to know blood, death, and pain.

Jace Serac is just another youth dodging slave sellers and orphan catchers on the streets of Isis, trying to make his way in a city building it's name on indulgence and decadence. His life is forever changed as he starts to have terrible pains in his head that quickly turn into seizures and black outs. Just as quickly as they start he is approached by a man with an accent he doesn't recognize. The man tells him he has two options:

Die a painful death in the streets. Just another worthless, bastard child that was thrown away.

Or do terrible things... and take his place among the gods of men.
