Sirens weren’t supposed to interact with humans, it was written in the ancient law. The law was written that way because many years in the past, a siren fell in love with a human and the story says that their love almost brought the demise of both races. Most sirens today believe that this is just an old myth, but nevertheless, they don’t interact with humans. It had been over a thousand years since the first siren and human love story when another curious young siren, comes across an intriguing human. This siren's name, was Jamie Briarly. Jamie was only 18 in human years when a huge hurricane swept over the the sea where he was swimming around in. the strength of the raging storm swept him away, making him lose consciousness and bringing him to shore. Jamie was out for three days straight and he didn’t wake up until he heard the sound of someone singing. This was how 20 year old Parker James came into his life. Parker was walking along the shore line on a cloudy day after the huge storm had ended when he stumbled across Jamie. Parker was startled by the sight of a creature with a vibrant blue fish tail with magnificent yellow fins, but the upper body of a human man, perfectly fit with a good build. His dark hair swept over his eyes and his breath was shallow. Slowly, the siren boy pushed himself up with his elbows, mimicking the tune* that Parker had been singing. Jamie's voice was quiet and weak as he sang, “Just let me love...you.” Parker looked down at Jamie, he looked ill. He knelt down beside the siren and said “Are you alright?” He asks. Jamie tilted his head slightly as the human pushed his hair out from in front of his eyes. “W-water…” He mumbled. His body was starting to shut down, he had never been out of the sea before. He was so dazed that he hadn’t even noticed it was a human who was carrying him back into the icy cold water. After a few minutes in the waves, Jamie begins regaining his strength. Parker watched in amazement as he flipped his tail back and forth, his long yellow fins seemed to be glowing. The word that came to Parker's mind was beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. How had he gone twenty one years of life without having ever seen this gorgeous creature, he wondered. His train of thought was disturbed when the creature spoke to him. “I’m sorry.” That was all he said. Jamie was finally realizing that he had been with a human this entire time. He had no idea how long he had been away from home, his family was probably worrying about him. He stared at the human. Jamie's head filled with thoughts about how strange he looked. His hair was bright blonde and his eyes were dark unlike Jamie's blue eyes that were flecked with yellow to match his tail. Something about him was strangely beautiful to the young siren. Maybe it was because this was the first time he had ever seen a human in person, but he couldn’t say for sure. He opened his mouth to apologize again, but said nothing. “What are you sorry for?” Parker asked. “Sirens and Humans are not supposed to interact.” Jamie mumbles. Parker knelt down so he was eye level with the young creature. “Why is that? It’s selfish to hide your beauty from the rest of the world.” this caused Jamie to blush a bit. His voice becomes quite, “It’s just written in the law like that...I have to go, thank you for the help but, goodbye!” He was about to dive into the dark waters when Parker yelled “Wait! I want to see you again!” Jamie paused and turned back around. “You can’t. I just explained to you that humans and sirens aren’t supposed to interact with each other.”
“I don’t care. I have so many questions, i’m fascinated by you, please let me see you again.” he begs. Jamie sighs and take a moment to think. “Fine, tomorrow, i’ll come back here, But you can’t tell anyone, nobody, not a soul. Do you understand?” He said with a keen sense of urgency in his voice. Parker nodded, "Yes, Yes I understand. I'll see you tomorrow." And with that, he turned on his heels and ran from the shore as Jamie dove under the waters, only to be greeted by the last person he wanted to see. His mother.
