Trauma Induced Hallucination Disorder (TIHD) is a psychological disorder that has similar symptoms as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Schizophrenia, and Synesthesia.
Those who suffer either prolonged trauma or a single traumatic event could develop this disorder. It's other causes are unknown, and not much research has been done due to the rarity in the disorder.
TIHD causes the patient to have hallucinations (varying in severity and content from person to person) that are usually caused by triggers. However, the disorder sometimes causes hallucinations randomly, similar to Schizophrenia. This hallucinations are exclusively visual and auditory, although when a patient's case is severe, they believe these things to be real. The hallucinations are easily interrupted, however; most patients saying physical touch from another person snaps them out of it.
Most with TIHD say music helps with the treatment of the disorder; music has been shown to ward off any negative hallucinations and replace them with brilliant colors that calm the person.
There is no current treatment other than music.
