Randomly stranded somewhere in the red sand deserts of the American Midwest, River Parrish takes a moment to reflect on the nature of existence. Because...that's a reasonable response to being stranded in the desert.
We're introduced to a merry little band of eclectic kids - and get to see just a little of who they are. But mostly we get to see how freakin' awkward River is.
River is a not so average teenager finally tasting the freedom that comes after graduation. But joy has never been something River was good at. Stuck between his Indigenous and European heritage, his humble roots and his desire for more, and his old and new flames - he finds himself at wits end. Add in the fact he isn’t sure he’s ever been the son his parents thought he was - in more ways than one. But with the love of friends and family, and a good kick in the ass, River finally discovers who he truly is.
