If you're new to Smith, welcome. I'm doing daily reposts of material from about halfway through the strip's run until I catch up with the thrice-weekly posts I put up on GoComics. Then the two sites will run in Tandem. But for now all you need to know is that it's the 4th of August 2013, and Smith is a cat. I'll explain new characters as they appear.

It's a cat's life.
Smith is a Siamese cat. All he wants is a quiet life, the standard feline existence of sleeping, eating and sniffing things, leavened with the occasional bit of pouncing. It’s a pity that none of his friends will leave him alone long enough for it to ever happen.
