It’s September, 1942. The last time nine-year-old Charlie Stewart heard from his father was at the beginning of the year.
But for now, Charlie is concerned. Two days after his best friend, Henry, disappeared, his sleepy mining town starts searching, but they won’t let Charlie help. Henry said he was going to ask his parents about fundraising ideas to support the war effort and bring Charlie’s dad back from the Philippines.
When Henry does come back - six days later - he’s sick. When he returns to school, he’s . . . D I F F E R E N T . Something happened in those days when he was gone, and as everyone welcomes Henry back, Charlie grows increasingly frightened of what could’ve happened to him.
But one thing is for certain - something strange, something awful, something definitely happened to Henry Walker.
