Steven spread the large map out on the motel room’s table, which he and Connie had been using as a dinner table for the last week. He traced his finger along the long line of “X’s” which showed the many places he had traveled. He stopped his finger when he traced it back to his home, beach city. Steven sighed, “Connie, remind me again why you have to leave so soon?”
She looked up from her cup of noodles at her boyfriend.
“Uh, Steven we have gone over this. If I do summer school, I can graduate early, which means I
can spend more time with you earlier!”
“But connieeeeeee! What am I supposed to do with out youuuu??”
“You can still travel Steven, and plus, I can visit with lion on weekends”
Steven slumped back on his chair, sighing once again. He went back to gazing half mindedly at the large map. “I just, have no idea where I would go! I mean California is nice and all, but it’s just kind of..”
“Boring?”
“What? No! It’s really nice! We got to go to that amusement park, and the beaches where all, so pretty-“
“You know that’s not what I meant by ‘boring’”
Steven’s face flushed pink. “...”
Connie sighed “you haven’t had anything ‘weird’. No gem stuff what’s so ever!”
“That’s a good thing, Connie! I went on this trip to get away from gem stuff!”
“Yea, yea.” Connie responded. Connie leaned over the map, clearly looking for something. She searched for a while before exclamation of “Ah! There.” Connie pointed to a small town in Oregon, where the name had been slightly scratched out.
“Ravity fall? Never heard of it”
Connie chuckled “No silly! Gravity falls. Renaldo told me about it. Apparently all kinds of spooky stuff happens here!”
Steven crooked his head at the notion “gem stuff?”
“I have no idea, but based on some articles and pictures some really weird stuff happens there all the time”
Steven smiled to himself “So you think I should go there?”
“I think.” Connie responded “that you need some change of scenery, and hey small town, no stress? It could be good for you”
Steven opened his mouth to argue with her, but no words came out.
“Anyways” Connie said, getting up from the folding chair. “I’m going to bed, I’ll wake you up in the morning when I leave”. Connie gave Steven a kiss on the bridge of his noise, before going to the next room over. “Hm” Steven remarked, “Gravity falls....What are you hiding?”
