Our heroes are the ragtag "freedom fighter" crew of an old, beaten-up & heavily re-purposed sky-ship called The Duchess - and they're about to be thrown into a storm of fast-brewing war, high treason and ancient conspiracy involving the so-called 'Red Queen' of the powerful Heartland Empire!
Enter luckless prisoner Lewis Southgarden - an optimistic 14-year-old nobody from a little skyport you've never heard of. His special skill? Being in the wrong place at the wrong time...
