When night overcomes Aurora City, it brings sinister shadows and monsters called Corrupted that seek out humans to hunt and devour. The Switch Guardians fight these creatures and absorb their dark energy.

Katherine King knows that monsters exist. When she was a child, she witnessed one murder her mother, and ever since then she knew that monsters were real. Even when no one believed her, others shunned her, and doctors and specialists told her otherwise, she knew.

Her father had moved on and held secrets, while her sister seemed to forget it all. Katherine remained diligent and steadfast in knowing that one truth. While she has not spoken of the incident in seven years, she holds the memory of her mother close to her heart.

When a Corrupted attacks her friends, she is jolted back to the memory. She wonders if this will be it, but in the last moment, a shining red energy encases her and the creature to another place.

Katherine’s heart leaps as the Corrupted bounds toward her, but is saved in the last moment by Demitria Fall, a woman that tells her she is special and can take on abilities to defeat these monsters.

Demi presents her with a choice and a path to take on power, with one catch:
To give of her life. A shortened lifespan in exchange for the power to fight.
