Present
It’s at the same place, the same notebook, and the words my heart had fallen in love with too. We agreed to meet here. I readied myself to finally let it all out, my feelings I had kept secret for too long. I hadn’t been exactly courageous before, to spill out my feelings to a boy I liked, nearly loved.
These were all my thoughts when another boy, someone I knew, arrived at what was supposed to be our meeting place, at the exact time as Inigo Hangin was about to meet me here, the boy who mattered to me more than any boy in the world.
We agreed to see each other here at the bench under a waiting shed at the back of the library, near the not so functioning vending machine that had become my favorite spot. It was already raining, and he didn’t even bother to bring an umbrella with him. I told him to hurry to the shed where I was staying, waiting for Inigo.
“I’m sorry,” that’s all he said at first.
“For what exactly?”
“For not telling you.”
I felt nervous, my shoulders tensed, and I got shivers. I was sure it wasn’t because of the cold wind from the rain.
“It wasn’t Inigo Hangin who had been writing to you all this time.”
In shock, I waited for him to reveal, “It’s me.”
