PILOT INDUCTION MANUAL

WRITTEN BY DIRECTOR M GRAHAM
The year is 2123, a time of great ingenuity, forward thinking and survival. The wars of the earth have taken a massive toll on its people, a fight for resources that only ended because of the radiation. A strange purple hue, a new nightmare for the human race.
It began when a call for saving the earth no longer became an option, but a goal. The governments of the world had harvested and mined what they could, where they could. Eventually it started running out, some minerals were not an issue, for they could be synthetically replicated. But others proved more of a problem.
Land based water became scarce globally, in order to combat this, the polar ice caps were mined for their abundance of ice. Large chunks carried across wide swathes of open sea, their objective here was for the ice to be deposited into dams and giant water plants, in order to be melted, for the water was urgently needed. But of course, this came at a price. Somebody had to be paid for the mining and work, and it was just too good of an opportunity to make your riches.
Not everyone agreed on this method, the United Nations tried their best to fend off the wolves, the likes of mega corporations and large global entities. But it was not enough. Private military organisations sprung up throughout the world, everyone fighting for their bit of the pie, when one day the first nuclear warhead went off.
This sparked a panic, and further launches caused the cataclysmic event they called “the Purge”. If the warheads didn’t kill you, the purple radiation did.
The warheads tore holes in the atmosphere and the radiation from them combined with the radiation from space, reacted together like no-one could have imagined. All life on the surface…changed.
The few that managed to find shelter or were within shelters survived. The bunker people, as they were called, “Doomsday Preppers”, saw the signs and were ready. They now becoming an integral part of the current, last underground city.
Not to common knowledge, another organisation was established during these times of tumult. They called themselves “A.N.T”, a rather fitting acronym actually, as they are based underground. The Allied Nations Taskforce, a collection of ragtag bright minds and wannabe scientists.
A decision was made to gather the little resources left from the private and governmental backing they once had, and to come up with a solution to the new menace born on the surface of the earth. They are dubbed the “RadiMutants”, led by a rather radical and evolutionary idealist. Professor Illias Tamer, a once fantastic mind for the World Health Organisation who created a version of nanite medicine, he dubbed "Nanyte" Tech, he has now turned radical militant leader. The effects of the radiation coupled with the strange space radiation that leaked through the atmosphere, reacted to our human physiology, it increased human strength and speed, durability and general toughness, leaving these new "RadiMutants" greatly stronger than your average human being.
The catch being a terrible toll it took upon the body, leaving many disfigured and altered, perhaps the greatest tragedy is that you seemingly lose your mind to the radiation, devolving into a beast of violence and a general disregard for life. Somehow the professor was able to twist the minds of the "RadiMutants", convincing many who were affected that this was a gift from the heavens, a pathway of evolution, to greatness. This unfortunately meant that normal human beings were of “lesser” value, and so the war began.
Fortunately the people at A.N.T managed to create a way to fight against the scourge of the RadiMutants. Your Suit, linked to the Pilot via AI Nanytes injected into the pilots before training. They were dubbed T.A.N.I.S.S , “Tactical Advanced Nanyte Induced Survival Suits”. These suits can only be operated by a pilot that has the nanyte AI serum injected into the spinal column. The pilot essentially a host to the AI is then able to use the suit with extreme efficacy.
Through electric signals emitted through the skin the suit reacts to the users input, the AI is able to provide tactical and combat knowledge to the user while operating inside of the suit. The relationship between the pilot and AI ceases when the pilot exits the suit. Due to the biological nature of the suits power source, the Pilot on average would only last around 8 hours of rigorous usage.
It’s important to note that contaminated individuals from radiation exposure cannot undergo the Nanyte Induction Procedure, the nanytes would end up tearing the Radiation cells apart, therefore killing the subject. Due to this, the ideal candidates for undergoing TANISS training would be those not exposed during the start of the war, generally anyone born as a “Groundie” or “Underground” and that have not been exposed to the radiation at all are our ideal candidates.
Never forget why you are here and what we are doing this for. The human race must survive, we must survive.
As Iron Sharpens Iron, your suit team must band together to survive.
...END TRANSCRIPT...
“Do I really need to keep reading why I am here, this is like the fifth time, hell, I know what I’m doing here”, Ivah thought to himself while stretching out on his bed.
“Who decided it would be a good idea to write this down anyway? I have never met Mr M Graham, I bet he has no Idea who or what I do here. Still, it’s interesting to think that there are more suits in this place".
Ivah looked around the adequately lit room, it was spacious and catered to most of his training needs. He further wondered to himself, on why he never actually got to meet anyone from A.N.T, if they were an organisation bent on saving the world using his abilities, the nice thing would be to come around once and a while to say hello.
"Ruby, whats next on the agenda for today, yesterdays session was good, but heck, I feel like things are getting easy. You are getting soft." He smirked while looking at the glowing green hue, emanating from the orb positioned in the middle of the room
"Ivah, while I completely respect your opinion, you would be careful on what you wish for. I still remember you peeing yourself at the first sight of a Roach."
Ivah thought back to that very first day, it was incredible. Bar the soiling. If it were not for the suits ecosystem purge, he would have had to complete a training session while floating in his own pee.
He reflected back on the feeling of strength and speed his suit enabled him to summon. All worth nothing at the sight of the roach.
That was the first lesson, managing fear.
"I think that is rather degrading, to call them roaches, they were human once to. It wasn't their fault they got exposed" Ivah knew there was nothing he could do to change that, still, he liked to believe that there was a taint of humanity that clinged to the RadiMutants.
Ivah was interrupted in thought, "Ivah, we have a normal suit inspection today scheduled, and we have to feed the nanytes." Ruby reported.
"A meal has been prepared for you in the kitchen, just how you like it, oats with butter and milk". Ivah smiled, "Thanks, Ruby, I love your cooking".
Ivah hopped out of bed and shuffled along to the kitchen space, it was medium sized, enough for a single person. Complete with the kitchen amenities any person would likely need, most of it completely controlled by Ruby. Ivah often wondered where the fresh ingredients even came from. They would just appear in boxes delivered via a chute underneath one of the vents near the kitchen.
The AI, moved throughout the room efficiently, turning the coffee machine on, opening and closing the fridge and oven doors, a conveyer belt is neatly placed throughout the kitchen tops. Small crane like claws were installed at various positions in the rooms. These assisted Ruby with grabbing and moving items around. If it were not for Ruby, Ivah would likely be dead. Being that he burnt most meals he attempted to cook.
A cookbook was on his wish list for things to own, but in the bookcase, there were only manuals and instructional booklets. Combat instructions, human history and descriptions of anatomy. He had never seen another human before. The female variety piqued a curiosity in him, there were parts of the anatomy that were entirely different to his own, and this confused him. Many nights were spent arguing with Ruby on what the point of many different anatomical parts were for, but those nights just ended with more curiosity and questions. A conundrum, he established.
On the left corner of the room a television set flicked on, his agenda for the day displayed on the flickering screen.
"Once you have eaten and showered we can begin the inspection of your TANISS. Please don't be late. Your showers are beginning to become longer and longer."
Ivah laughed and slurped the last bit of oats from the ceramic bowl that has always been there. In fact all he remembers is this room, and the contents within it. There was never anything else, anyone else. Only himself and Ruby, a green orb that controlled his day to day life.
"Right time to hit the shower and then to kick some ass" Ivah exclaimed while jumping onto the couch and walking off the end.
As he walked towards the bathroom, a rumbling sound echoed from the center of the room, a circular trap door slowly began to open, the doors sliding into the floors of what looked like the lounge. Railings climbed steadily from the floor and surrounded the circular pit.
Steam billowed from the center of the gaping hole, a mechanical crunching and whirring of gears started and a platform began to emerge from the center. As the steam settled, there in all its glory was the TANISS suit, ready for business. Its external armor shimmered with the nanyte technology, rippling along the arms, torso and legs. A faint purple glow appeared from the rear of the suit which was open.
"Your suit is ready when you are Ivah". Said ruby
"At your request, today's training session will be a bit more...challenging".
