The wind was hitting her face, the manure filling her nostrils. Marilou didn't care about the countryside, yet all of this smell was perturbing her. Annoyed by all this ruckus, the young girl closed the window, preferring to admire the view from afar.
Outside, she distinguished farming fields all around her, along with huge campaign homes surmounted by gables at the horizon. The cows mooed loudly at the other side of the road, as she let herself go along the bumpy countryside road. Long live relocating, Marilou has thought sarcastically to herself.
The teenager was used to her bedroom, in the suburbs. Posters of Britney Spears occupied her cotton candy pink walls of her room, fitting her canopy bed at the middle of her room. Her mirror took a place on her night table, decorated with golden ornements.
Marilou had never complained about her bedroom. She appreciated every thing she had. Jean-Paule Sartre saying's "Being free isn't being able to do what you want to, but to want what you have." reflected her thoughts well. Although her room looked quite coquette, she loved it well.
The teenager always encouraged herself with positive sayings and sentences. Every morning, she placed herself in front of her mirror, looked deep into her own eyes and repeated hew favorite ones.
One time, her mother surprised her in her daily moment. A shy smile creeped up her lips, her dimples appearing some more as it grew.
Following the rhythm on her headphones, she stopped when she felt a shoulder nudging her. Marilou took them off reluctantly, watching around her. Her gaze stopped on her twin brother, Isaac.
- Don't bother me, idiot! The girl warned, nudging her brother's shoulder back
Just like her, he had took the habit to click his tongue when he was amused. His azur gaze directed to his sister, his smirk betraying his amusement.
- Jeez, calm down Loulou, I had just nudged your shoulder. The elder retorted, raising both of his hands in innocence as he threw their parents a glance by the mirror
Marilou didn't comment, looking up. Following her brother's gaze, she noticed the expression of her parents. Their eyes were red and puffy, as if they had cried for hours. Their eyes would never go to either of their kids; the road was like a magnet that pulled them to reality.
They did look like they cried, though. Shannon and Philippe Daniels officially took the decision, off to a new start. The family started at Bordeaux, going to Vienne, both cities in France. The adults relocated from England to friends when the twins were just babies, which explained their english names. For a trip of about five hours, Marilou had never been this exceeded.
The car parked in the manor's parking. As she jumped off the car, pushing the door after her, Marilou felt her breath catch in her throat. In front of her stood a manor of a few meters, the weathervane on the roof remembering them how windy the day was. The landscape looked more of a haunted house then a luxurious journey castle.
- Holy Cow! Muttered Isaac, rolling his luggage across the path
- I didn't expect it to be this big! Chantale commented as she stuffed her keys, following the rest of the family
Marilou could distinguish impressed whispers across her family. If she had to be honest, the girl found it troubling. All of the walls were black, and the decoration probably dated since the Middle Ages.
- Could I have my own room? Marilou asked, tightening the grip on her suitcase, throwing her brother a glance.
Her father, Philippe, giggled, before nodding his head vigorously.
- Of course, you'll have all the place you want, you saw how huge it is! Philippe replied, replacing his glasses
Suddenly excited, Marilou went off running with her luggage, jumping on her bed. Dropping her stuff to the side of the bed, the girl stared at the ceiling, a blissful smile on her lips. She would have her own bedroom, now!
This made her happy, as she used to share a room with her brother when she was younger. It always annoyed her; Isaac was loud, disturbing. And he took a lot of place, wandering around with his bowl of potato chips.
But now, Marilou didn't have to worry about it. Glad, she snuggled right into her covers with a sigh.
