I was swallowed whole. Eaten, my bones spit out. But it wasn't the end. I opened my eyes, and once again, I lived. This time, though, a mouse rather than a fish.

I fell from the sky, a parrot, and bleeding out on the jungle floor, I called out in a mimicry of those monkeys: "G-gaud. Gaud. Gaud! Gaud! Gaud!"

I thought in my primitive brain, "why can't I be one of them? One of those beautiful, magical creatures. They're the peak, they must be. So why? Why do I have to continue this endless cycle?"

And when I awoke, I was a monkey, just like them. A beautiful, magical, monkey, scorned by the world.

"But why?" I thought. "Why is it like this? What happened to the magic and the fun and the paradise? Why am I born in shit?"

Damn.

"Teach me magic," I asked.
But the wizard only laughed in my face, watching as my crimes caught up to me.

Maybe, just maybe, being 'human' wasn't as great as I thought.
