Faith
In the summer I will go to camp. I love it there, the only problem is I am always bunked alone. One summer a new girl came into the camp. Her hair was as black as midnight and tan skin perfect and smooth. Her last name beginning in T meant that i was going to be bunked with her.
In the first couple of days her voice was entrapped in my mind. It was always there. In reality she was quiet and shy. I would try and answer questions were directed towards me. She would always look at me confused as to what i was talking about then turn away and smile like she was embarrassed about it. At first I was confused why this was happening so I hit the books of my kind, Telepaths.
We at first can't hear any of the minds that surrounds us till we meet our mate. It usually takes decades, centuries even for us to find them. Questions bounced around my thoughts. What makes me so special to have her come across so early in my life? Did she know that we were mates? Is that why she smiled at my confused looks and questions?
So occupied in my thoughts I crashed right into her while we were in the lunch cabin with our mentor/counselor Anna. Having two trays of food spill down my shirt and falling on my ass in front of the whole camp is not how i thought this summer was going to go. My mate helped me up as I looked at Anna for the permission to leave. With a nod of her head i ran out the cabin doors to my bunk space.
Not noticing the sound of running footsteps behind me I stripped out of my clothing as soon as I entered, only to stop when i heard a shocked gasp from behind me. I turned around to see my mate with a look of anger, disgust, and fear. I didn't need to ask the goddess in front of me to why she had this reaction. I had many scars covering more than half my body, especially my back. When she saw i have noticed her she turned around beat red. This only made me chuckle at her behavior. I got rid of the rest of my clothing and put on new ones.
I said “You can turn around now Zenthya.”
“Are you sure Faith? I don't want to be tricked.” She had a slight quiver in her voice making its sound like she was amused.
She turned around her face still beat red from embarrassment. But her eyes told a different story. They told me she was sad and curious of what in the hell has happened to me. Anger ready to destroy who ever it was in the first place. Before either of us got to ask any questions Anna came into the room. Worry in her eyes as she took a quick look of me determining that I was alright.
“Jste v pořádku mou královnou?(Are you alright my queen?)” Anna said in Czech.
“Ano, Anna je v pořádku, jak vidíte.(Yes Anna i am fine as you can see.)” i replied.
“ Are you sure Faith?” asked Anna.
“ Yes i am sure. You have nothing to worry yourself about.” I say in a clearly irritated tone for how protective she is being.
Anna was someone my father paid to look after me and keep me in check at all times. Her being a feline made her the perfect accet.
