Yet to watch him take over in a fiery blaze--

left me in a bit of a haze. 

One day, I decided to stay up late--

to see if the moon, I would truly hate. 

I watched the sun die, 

with sadness in my eye--

But then, what changes could await?

I didn't know, but I was sure she would take her place. 

She rose in the sky,

like a big, grey eye--

watching over me, 

and waiting for my suprise. 

She acknowledged me presence, 

and not even a bit unpleasant--

she lit the dark night, 

with great delight. 

Now I see--when the moon dies, 

her sadness is because she won't remain in my eyes. 

My mother always told me: "to watch the sun grow,

meant our souls would forever remain aglow". 

Now I know, that is not true for me. 

The moon's beauty is all I see.
