I don't mean to knock owls, mainly because they're birds of prey and could probably cause major bodily harm to me if they wanted. Still, I agree with Terry that they can't be nearly as wise and intelligent as we make them out to be. Corvids are much more so, but you never see a crow or raven with a graduation cap on pointing to a chalkboard, do you? Nope. Well, maybe someday.
The only time I've seen that portrayed is in a few books- the famous example being Ravenclaw House in Harry Potter. There should totally be corvid mascots though!
