In this world we wait for the hero.
This story has a hero, but in the end was it really the person or their decisions?
Maybe there is really more than one hero!

- Little Thought

At this hour that the story begins the day was cloaked gently by a velvety cloth of night. And this particular night was meant to change the life of a young woman forever. Above the ocean the night was illuminated by the light of the crescent of a waxing moon and the gleaming light of stars, which made it through the light pollution to the port city.
This young woman had set out to a goth club to celebrate her 22nd birthday. She is of nihon, french and english descent and 1,70 m tall with straight black hair and pacific blue eyes.
What had inspired her path to becoming a docter had been on the one hand her father being a chief surgeon and the death of her mother, when she had been very young. Now, she was in the 7th semester and very excited to finish it. It would still take a while of course but for today she would take a break and what better occasion than her birthday.

The club that she frequented with her best friend, since 2 months was called 'Desmodus' and on the outside did not look like much, however on the inside it had multiple floors and different stages, with elaborate decoration, especially since it was the night of halloween as well. Perfectly matching the aesthetic of the club and the holiday, the woman and her best friend were dancing on the second floor, which had multiple black chandeliers with fake red candles. Music buzzed and flowed in the air it was sometimes spooky, interspersed with symphonic metal and occasionally a bit rock-like.
For all the appreciators of said music there was enough space on the dance floor and those who did not could use the four stairs to walk to the above or lower floors, to find music more suiting to their tastes.
A bar was situated at the gallery and next to it were spacious alcove VIP areas, to which neither of the women had access to, in which there was someone hiding until a later time of the story. But besides this person the other's were able to talk and laugh, while sitting at the round tables, while eating and drinking what they had ordered.

Suddenly at the moment the music reached it's crescendo something changed... the quarter nihon woman with wide and oval double lidded eyes felt a migraine pulse behind said dark blue eyes. She excused herself to inform her friend that she would try to get to the bathrooms and then went to it, which were on the 1st floor and walked there until she reached a very long queue in front of the women's bathroom. A sharp pain turned the migraine to a pain level that, which made usual migraines pain levels pale in comparison. This was the moment, when she needed to support herself on the wall. She had no reference point or words for this pain it was horrifying the nearest description that felt adequate was the feeling of being torn apart head to toe or being burned from the inside out. She could only feel that it still originated from her head, which she started to hold in both hands, as tears rand down her face.

Dizzy from the misery she felt, she tried to distract herself, by trying to figure out what was going on with her based on her symptoms. And while she tried that she started to leave the club, due to the line not shortening and the growing need within her to just be home and hide herself away. However, as she did not have the capacity at the moment to really remember where the exit was, she used the emergency exit that was nearest and left.

Back to her symptoms, it seemed like she had developed rashes that she had seen reflections of in the mirrors within the corridor of the club. The epicentre of the affliction were behind her eyes, head and throat. Plus her jaw had started throb the moment she had exit the club. It did not help in the slightest because somehow it was so bright outside that she opted to take the long way home via dark alleys that would not with their streetlights burn her eyes away.

The darkness of the first alleyway she stepped into, felt as welcoming as a warm hug from her best friend would, but as soon as she thought back to her the pain stabbed through her body again crashing into her similar to a lightning. As it progressed into every part of her body she no longer could discern where it was, or where it was strongest.
It was  so strong in fact that she couldn't feel her bag punching against her thighs anymore, which was due to her fast pace that she also really did not notice anymore. At the moment her body was on auto pilot and apparently aside of the pain, now was also developing a fever. That was only noticed though, due to the cloudburst hitting her skin and making her steps echoe differently on the walls of the alley. Additionally to the rain trying to rapidly cool her down, yet it was of no use.
It did not take long for her coat and dress to get soaked through, thus they started to cling to every curve of her body and trying to make her trip. Mainly the lower part of the dress, since it had two slits and this made it possible for the cloth to tangle in-between her legs.

The more dangerous thing that happened right now wasn't that her heels might've broken from the force she used while walking, it was the zombie lurking near a trash can, whose attention she attracted. No cat or rat could ever be as dangerous as this being of grey blue skin with slow shuffling movement following her.
At some point this thing had been human, but it  wasn't anymore, because of a failed transformation. His blood had not been compatible and he was not the only one suffering that fate.

Regardless, he was one of the few bound to be beheaded by the person, who had lurked in the shadows since  some days, as he had followed the woman, because he was asked to protect her and he knew what was happening to her. Leaving the shadows he had hid in the young man with hazel brown hair and silver grey eyes started to approach the being raised his arm and with a smooth movement relieved the being of his head and suffering.

The reason he had waited until this point in time was because the zombie had startedto attack her and he had tried to give the thing the chance to decide differently. Inspecting the body the man realised though that a hunting knife had already been inserted into it's heart letting grey blood ooze out of the deep wound it caused and attesting to the fact that the woman, he was sent to protect had already protected herself.

Above all with a hunting knife that she evidentely carried around every day. More than a little impressed he looked at her, she seemed to have slipped and had landed on her butt. The moment he tried to help her up, she was fast on her feet again, or rather heels and dashed away. So back to following her, the brown haired guy cleaned his sword and continued to follow her - until a surreal crack reverberated that made him stop in his tracks.

She wanted to scream, she really really wanted to do it, however as her jaw had cracked and broken at multiple positions her mouth was flooded with blood that obstructed her ability to speak and not only for the fact that it filled it, but also due to the new excruciating pain on top of all the other. So when she opened her mouth it flowed out, as she could no longer walk or stand, she skidded to a halt and slit down the nearest wall. Then she tried to put pressure on her jaw with one hand and with the other she wanted to apply pressure to her head.
As soon as she tried she noticed though that her nails had transformed into claws that tried to add more pain and pierce through skin. She jerked her hand away and crossed both hands above her head at her wrists and used her wrists to put pressure on her head instead. The fever had transformed into hot irons wriggling through her veins and in a clear moment she wondered if this was an Influenza, still other context clues told her it couldn't be.
Since at the same time her body felt icy cold as if it was dying and decaying.
As if someone had abandoned her in antarctica.
It might as well have been her body overheating as at some point the human skin was not able to differentiate between hot and cold anymore.

Tears ran down her face uninhibited, resembling a waterfall flowing over her cheeks and mixing with the blood on her lips and jaw. Goosebumps spread over her skin, at the same time her heart acclerated to the beat of a fast drum and then it stopped. A thunder shook from her heart across the rest of her body, so that she could not mistake it for actual thunder.
As a result it seemed that the pain had now stopped and so she could finally really sense the rain. What she did not appreciate though was her heart not beating anymore and the ice cold water, which was riddled with long needles coursing through her veins now instead of blood. The spring of this water was within the back of her neck and that was the last thing she felt, before she died. What had been worse, the pain? The heat? The cold?
Who could really tell?
Regardless of all of this, the water continued to spread through her neck into her spine, throughout her unmoving body and brain.

The guy following her had finally caught up to her, continuously growing more and more impressed of her and squatted down in front of her. Her mouth was still open as well as her eyes and he could observe the transformation she was going to, at least the stage it was at now and could at least verify that she would not turn into the same zombie, she had just killed. He observed while all of her scars healed, those he could see at least, but he also knew all of them would. Additionally, fangs had broken free at the positions that the jaw had broken - it were 8 overrall. The same number that, funnily enough, he had too. He could also observe as the blue of her eyes, which was the same colour as her biological mum, disappeared via blobs of purple and red that spread in a similar fashion as in a lava lamp - with the difference of the blobs actually recolouring the eyes.

The hunting knife he had picked up was now cleaned and put back into the contraption on her lower leg.  More precisely within her knee-high and high heeled boots.
As he observed her metamophosis, he was reminded of his own and then decided to pick her up and get her to his house, which was at the outskirts of the city within a forest and it was not visitable by humans.

He wasn't one and she would not be anymore in a matter of hours. This was the reason why he moved at impossible speed, while her phone was buzzing intermittently, which he ignored. Eventually he put her on a bed closed the curtains and sat down on a winged chair crossing one leg over the other.
