After driving for what must’ve been two hours down a bumpy road, the car slowed to a stop. I listened to the driver open his car door, then a moment later a breeze blew onto my legs to my left. He took my hand and helped me out of the car.

“Good luck.”

Without another word, he drove off and left me stranded.

After looking between the path and the dirt road, I chewed on my inner cheek. If I tried to walk back to the city, it would take me days, and I didn’t even know which way to go. I didn’t know where I was, how long it’d take, or if some wild animal would eat me by then.
