She walked towards the tavern with a snarl on her face.”Those damn bastards. They really thought they could win against me. They didn’t know who they were messing with.” She muttered to herself. She held the dagger drenched with her former companion’s blood. If you could call them that. Attempting to rob and kill me was a dire mistake on those imbeciles' part. This world had already caused her trouble. Opening the door with a thrust that almost took the door off its hinges, she first saw the glares of those having a drink. Then watching their eyes begin to show a stark induced fear as they looked upon the bloody dagger. She saw the oddball group turn as white as Vera’s hair. Soon their blood would be on her weapon as well. She didn’t like killing people, it’s just she had no qualms about it. It was self-defense anyways. “Hi, you thought I’d be dead by now right?”
But to her luck it became surprisingly clear who was behind all of this. All one of the idiots could muster was her name. “Vera…” and began to stutter nonsense. It didn’t annoy her at first. But after a few seconds it got under her skin. It was no longer amusing. At least she would no longer have to hear their sniveling voices again. “You have no right to be here! They should’ve done their job right.” That was a poor choice on his part. At least one of the group saw his callous mistake. She stabbed her dagger into the arrogant man’s hand as he made way to grab his own weapon. His screams rang throughout the room.
The men who knew what was going to happen sprang towards the door. The idea of being part of this chaotic fight that was about to ensue didn't seem too pleasing to those fleeing. They weren't involved so it wasn't their problem nor was it their sin to pay for. The door kept swinging open as if it was a revolving door. The other men looked at me with sheer terror. The injured one on the other hand had wild eyes filled with anger. "Who wants to say sorry?" Vera mocked them. "Not me." The man grunted. With a wicked grin she pulled out her dagger and gave a killing blow. "We're sorry." The two men kneeled on the ground pleading for their very lives. She never wanted to kill those surrendering. Yet, they did aim to kill her. But, they would never be able to, she was way too powerful. The inner turmoil went on in her mind for a bit. They became impatient and extremely fearful. "Please?" He questioned her tearfully. Not the tears. "Fine, but if you go around doing this again and I find out you know what will happen right?" "Yes! We'll never rob anyone again. We promise." "Fine." She doubted they would change their ways. It was still a hopeful thought.
She had changed over time. Her previous incarnation was one that was horrible. She was filled with vile self-hatred when the thought occurred that used to be her previous life. One that would harm people who were just innocently living their lives. Who she was now, was a demon who would protect those from harm. No longer would there be pain allowed to be caused by those who felt superior to others. Never would Vera become an enemy to those in need, but an ally instead. She looked down at them trembling and turned around slowly and began to walk out. She waited for them to strike her down, but no assault came her way. She went out the door and decided to never return to this place. It’s not like it would be a welcoming return the second time around.
After Vera left her previous world she stumbled upon a kingdom that was at the peak of its influence. The flourishing land had one problem. The king was lost and there was a great reward to find him. Although she didn't have much care for money she decided it would be an interesting adventure. This is the beginning of a whirlwind love story.
