The Duckie Type

Duckie

Duckie

Aug 19, 2020

Girls like to talk to me. I don't know why. They lean against my locker, or me sometimes, and talk really sweetly, twirling their hair around their finger, and giggling a bit.

I nod and shake my head at weird questions they ask.

"Are you single?" Why, no. No one is single in this world. Eight billion humans on Earth, so at any given time no one is ever 'single'.

"Are you busy on Saturday?" Depends. Does sleeping, eating, and breathing count as 'being busy'?

"My parents are on a business trip this weekend. Wanna come over and have some fun?" Well, I enjoy board games. Swimming is fun as well. But I don't see why your parents being away has anything to do with it.

The boys at my school call me a player. I do no sports. I am not a player. The boys also whisper when they think I can't hear them and call me an 'asshole' because, as they say, I'm a virgin. I see nothing wrong with my virginity. I'm sixteen years old. Sex is not important right now.

But then, I see them happy and loud after a 'good night' with a pretty 'babe'. I shrug this off and continue on my way. Besides, I have friends to keep me occupied. They talk to me and laugh at my jokes and help me with homework.

They may be fish swimming in my brain, but they do more good then bad.

The fish have names. There are four of them, Alex, Brick, Carmen, and Ericson. I am the 'D' in the alphabetical order we have. My name is Duckie Ontario, but my real name is Denver.

The fish aren't real. They only swim in my head because I imagine them doing so. They know why the girls talk to me. They say the girls are flirting. They say I am terrible at detecting 'flirts'. They say I'm not ready for a relationship. I agree. I'mtoo busy for relationships.

Hey! This episode took me forever to type, SHEESH. Lol. I adore Duckie, I swear he is so innocent.

Duckie, a high schooler, is what many call 'hard to get'. He wouldn't notice a flirt if it came up to him, slapped him across the face, and screamed it's name. His friends, which may or may not be the imaginary floating fish that swim around in his head, say he's just not ready for a relationship.

But then, the new art teacher comes in with all of his artistic, hunky glory. The girls all love him. The boys all want to hang out with him. And Duckie?

Duckie wants to kiss him!
