Luprix looked through their bag, pushing aside several books and scraps of papers written with strange runes that must have been another language. They placed their bag to the floor and started to rummage around the red-golden pinewood desk. Books and ornaments were brushed to the side as drawers and cubbies were investigated. They stepped back and sneered at the desk. It was an absolute mess now, everything from the bag and desk now littered the floor haphazardly.
“Where is it! I can’t go to class without my wand! I’m probably the only idiot who lost their training wand…” Luprix said exasperated.
A voice from above seemed to come through, lilted and echoey like an otherworldly being, “You don’t even like wands. Your magic can barely go through those sticks!”
Another voice spoke from below, smaller and much more fairy like. A stark contrast to the one above, “Why bother trying? You can’t control us, what makes you think you can even take wizard classes?”
“Ahh shut up Kascade and Cascade, I wish you two would just go away!” They said as they waved their arms at the two beasts angrily.
“You can’t even do that right.” The black floating beast said with a sneer.
“A failure as a magician can’t even tell his familiars to leave~” The white beast snickered as he flapped his wings and joined his brother in the air, dropping a small white stick to the floor.
“My wand! You absolute cretins! I hope a dragon eats you whole you stupid demons!”
The magician in training rushed out of the room, shoving random supplies back in their bag and grabbing the small white quartz stick on their way out. The door slammed behind them, a failed attempt to keep the beasts from leaving the room as they followed closely behind their master no matter the circumstances. The cat like beasts stayed side by side whispering among themselves and chuckling a few feet behind the human that seemed to truly hate their existence.
“Stay outside of the classroom this time, I don’t need two giant rats interfering with the lesson.” The magician looked down on the beasts with their hands in fists by their side.
“No way, we enjoy watching you try learning stuff you’re no good at.”
“Yah, the only thing you’re good at is illusions, so stop with the wizard lessons. Be a magician you idiot.”
“I was told to try other things because I can’t control you guys! What kind of magician can’t control their familiars!”
For the second time that day a door was slammed in the faces of the beasts to no avail. They summoned to the side of their master and laid on the floor in boredom against the will of everyone involved. Luprix put his bag down just as the teacher walked in through the side entrance. They hurriedly pulled out their notebook and rushed to an open page, the lecture already beginning before Ms. Talon even reached the podium.
