A love story between the unlikely of people
Chapter 1
It was a normal day. Or so Rose thought. He walked in as silent as a shadow, and dressed almost as dark. No one even noticed him until he cleared his throat. He had a tallish, toned body, almost athletic. His hair was a dark dirty blond, that partially covered his face. He is perfect, most of the girls in the room thought. Until they looked at his face. He had a scar over his left eye, or what was left of it. No one could tell because of the patch covering it. His scowl was that of one much more advanced in understanding of the world. He was wearing a black suit jacket with a Punisher t-shirt, and dark pinstripe slacks with black dress shoes.
“Is this Mr. Brown's room?” he asked in a deep, smooth voice. Rose who has been quiet the entire time shyly says “This is Mr. Brown’s classroom.” At this point, he started staring right at her with an almost amused, yet searching, expression.
“And you are?” Mr. Brown interjected, causing the new kid’s piercing blue eye to move away from Rose.
“Aurum. Silver Aurum.” he replied with an almost Scottish lilt. Rose looks over at Silver and slightly smiles, holding back a giggle.
“Umm, Mr. Brown, don't we have to get on with class?” She says softly. Again, that piercing blue eye.
“Yes, of course. Let's see, the only empty seat will be next to Rose. The textbooks are on the counter, Mr. Silva.”
“Silver. The name is Silver.” he responded with a hard edge to his tone.
“Silver, yes, my apologies.” At that, Mr. Brown looked quite shaken, as he had never encountered someone like Silver before. Rose looked at Silver then to Mr. Brown, surprised at Mr. Brown’s reaction and the way Silver corrected him. Then she looked back at Silver and saw him very close to her knee.
“Am I not allowed to grab my pencil?” he asked.
“You can grab your pencil, you just got a little close for my comfort” she said in a shy voice.
“Shit happens.” he growled.
“E-Excuse me but you aren't allowed to swear in Mr. Brown's classroom.” Rose says a little flustered.
“When did I start caring?” he shot back, as he zoomed through the worksheet, making her even more flustered. Rose didn’t say anything back and started to get to work, while taking glances at Silver every now and again. Which he notices but doesn't let on.
They get through the rest of class in silence, but as she gets up to leave, Rose notices Brittany walking up to him in her cheerleader outfit, flashing her biggest ‘better than you in every way’ smile. While Rose was trying to figure out what Brittany would do, she trips over her own foot and all her textbooks and papers go flying. Silver is about to go help, but Brittany latches on to his arm. He takes one look at her, and removes his arm while pushing her back. He storms off and quickly disappears. Brittany, who is surprised, glares at Rose and purposely kicks her on her way out. Rose winces in pain from the blow to her side, but continues to pick up her stuff. Then, she slowly limps her way out the door, to her next class.
After Rose's third class she headed to the nurse's office because her side was killing her. The nurse checks it out and it seems Brittany's kick bruised Rose's side. The nurse gave Rose an ice pack and some bandages to wrap around herself, then sent her to class. On her way back to class she runs into Silver. Quite literally, in fact.
“Shit! Sorry!” Rose said in a mortified, flustered way.
“My apologies, mademoiselle.” he said in a French sounding voice.
“Wait a minute, weren't you Scottish earlier? And now you are French?” Rose asked, confused.
“I am a bit of a voice connoisseur. I am good with many accents.”
“How?”
“Ask me no questions, and I will tell you no lies.” he replied in a British accent.
“Harry Potter? Really?” Rose questioned, amused.
“What proof do you have?” he said, darkly, and silently walked away. She caught herself against the wall, before she fainted. The last thing she heard were running footsteps.
Rose slowly woke up with a headache in a room that she did not recognize at first. Then she saw him, the dark, mysterious boy. Silver looked at her as he asked “What’s your name?” as he looked in her eyes. She answered a few silent moments later.
“My name is Rose. Where am I?” Rose asked.
“The nurses office”, Silver responded
“Where is the nurse”, Rose asked.
“She had an errand to run and told me to keep watch over you until you woke up.” Silver said.
“You didn't have to stay and watch over me, I'm fine now.” Rose shyly says.
“Ma'am,” he said in a doctoral voice. “You have a mild concussion, you have two bruised ribs, and you are very dehydrated with low blood sugar.”
“Oh…”
“Yeah. Eat this.” He thrust a Fiber One bar into her hand.
“Um ok.” Rose said as she took the bar from him. Rose started to unwrap the Fiber One bar, but soon stopped.
“Why are you being so nice to me?” She asked before taking a bite of the bar.
“I've been where you are. I only had myself. You won't.” he replied.
“Oh…” she muttered.
“Well, I have a class to go to. I believe you do too. Call me?” he said, as he winked(or did he blink) and walked out.
“But, I don't know your number.” she said softly after he left. But, while she was leaving, she felt something in her pocket that wasn't there before. A small, black business card, with a ten digit number written in silver. She chuckled at the obvious point. She put the card back in her pocket, determined to call when she could. Then, she looked at the clock and sprinted out the door to get to her class. Silver was nowhere to be seen.
