An army marches across the realm of Laurë, under the banner of a Foreign King who has claimed the throne. The fields are aflame as those of the highborn castes burn their fields in his wake, fearful of his wrath. Armies fall beneath his near supernatural power. The huddled survivors curl beneath their ruins, begging for a savior to free them from the Hungry Lions of King Amellen. While they pray, two cloaked riders trot through the blackened and charred wheatfields to a smoking village on the border.
How do good men become tyrants? Few could answer more honestly than Amellen an'Mallanë. And doubtless, he would say nothing.

The Hungry Lions is a low fantasy story in the tradition of GRR Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" and Sharon Kay Penman's "Sunne in Splendour". It will follow a journey paved with good intentions and fraught with all-too human failings.
