A Jax looks out of it's window. Rain falls. The light from the lamp inside makes the dropping water shine as it falls. Puddles form on the concrete, people walk past the window holding umbrellas. Real people. Real women, real men, real children. The Jax hadn't seen many of them before. It wasn't used to these pedestrians that were nothing to do with the Jax- and had no clue it existed. What it was used to were people in black suits, taking apart it's body parts. Programming. Testing.
This Jax was just a prototype- but a very good one indeed. It worked exactly as it was planned, as the first programmed being to have conscious emotions. Not the only one- but the first.
It looked out of this window and at the rain. It longed to be outside, to feel the cold rain. To talk to the people. To know a real human person that wasn't just trying to make the Jax more 'realistic.' To know a real human that wasn't just some other random robot made by Darrika, the #1 robo-making company on Earth. There was only one other programmed entity that didn't annoy the Jax- but that program probably was annoyed by the Jax a lot of the time. The Jax looked down at it's suddenly vibrating watch- it was time to go to the factory. It let out an artificial sigh and jumped in the car. As soon as it stepped inside the workshop, it no longer had access to it's own body. Work had begun. All that the conscious mind of this Jax could do was see. And it watched as a team of men and women gathered around it with tools and objects. It would be a horrifying sight to see if you were new to it, but this was nearly weekly for the Jax. This was the norm for it.
"Vanessa, do you have the violence codes?"
"Yep!"
"What about the waterproof cover?"
"Got it."
They got to work.
