When a real estate developer hires Vincent to pressure a stubborn holdout property into selling, he expects a quick job. What he doesn't expect is a black-haired barista who won't make small talk, and won't be charmed — not even a little. Then one night he walks in after closing and finds eight very inhuman arms doing the dishes.
Blackmail becomes a business deal. The contracts are airtight, the terms entirely in Vincent's favor, and Eli signs without reading the fine print. Everything is going exactly according to plan.
What Vincent doesn't account for is someone too earnest to suspect him — and too easy to be around. By the time he notices, Eli is already somewhere he never meant to let anyone in.
