The Menders

Prologue: Adventure Time

Prologue: Adventure Time

Jun 27, 2026

Monday, January 2021

Morning mist settled over the Federal Multipurpose Building in the KB district.

District agencies occupied their floors—Registration, Health, and Road Transport.

And at the largest office in the building—

The District Education Office.

By 6:30 a.m., the compound was still quiet.

A blue Subaru Forester rolled into the parking lot and stopped at the reserved space for the Head of Department.

The driver stepped out.

Navy blazer. Midnight hair. Rectangular glasses.

He climbed the stairs to the first floor and tapped his attendance card.

06:30.

His name tag read:

KRISHNA.

The office had not fully awakened yet.

But complaints never slept.

Most arrived in envelopes.

Some came through calls.

Others appeared as short reports with long consequences.

Another complaint waited in the incoming tray.

Routine.

Ordinary.

Krishna picked up the file.

Then stopped.

He read the page again.

Behind him, footsteps approached.

“Morning.”

Rozman.

Krishna did not look away from the report.

“Tell me something.”

Rozman waited.

Krishna lowered the paper.

“Does this feel strange to you?”

Rozman squinted his eyes to scan the crucial details.

A few minutes later, a small shadow appeared at the office window.

Someone knocked twice.

Rozman glanced over.

Their intern.

Izhan.

She opened the door slightly and peeked in.

“Morning.”

Her eyes swept across the room—

then stopped.

Stacks of printed reports.

Complaint forms.

Timestamps from SISPAA.

Her eyes lit up immediately.

Rozman looked at Krishna.

Then lowered his voice.

“…She knows what those are.”

Krishna did not look up.

“That’s the problem.”

Izhan stepped inside.

Her gaze moved from one file to another.

Slowly, a grin appeared.

She raised both arms dramatically.

“ADVENTURE TIME!”

Silence.

Rozman looked at Krishna.

Krishna closed the file.

“We should’ve sent her to the curriculum.

Izhan dropped into the empty chair across the desk.

“So…”

She leaned forward.

“What are we investigating?”

Rozman let out a quiet laugh.

Krishna closed the file.

“We’re not investigating anything.”

Izhan blinked.

Krishna placed the report back onto the tray.

“Just another complaint.”

She nodded slowly.

Right.

Just another complaint.

Outside, office lights flickered on one by one.

Phones started ringing.

Footsteps echoed across the corridor.

Another day at the District Education Office.

Another report.

Another file.

Another problem waiting for someone else to solve.

Krishna reached for the next stack.

Then his hand paused.

His eyes drifted back to the same report.

Rozman noticed.

He said nothing.

Izhan noticed too.

She tilted her head.

“…Something wrong?”

Krishna looked at the file for another second.

Then closed it.

“No.”

A pause.

“Not yet.”

The report remained on the desk.

Unopened.

Waiting.

Most complaints ended with a file closed.

This one didn’t.

Coming soon, July 10th, 2026.

AUTHOR'S NOTE

Hello, readers.

If you've been here since Becoming Nazha — welcome back.

And if this is your first time reading my work, welcome to The Menders.

This series was born from a question that stayed in my mind for a long time:

What happens after a complaint is submitted?

Behind every report, every file, every closed case, people are reading, investigating, discussing, doubting, and trying to make decisions with incomplete information.

This story follows that side.

The Menders is a mystery drama told from the perspective of those who receive complaints. While inspired by real environments and public issues, this work remains fictional. Names, places, events, and procedures have been adapted for storytelling purposes.

You will meet officers, teachers, students, interns, and people who simply happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Some complaints will make you laugh.

Some may frustrate you.

Some will stay longer than expected.

And to returning readers—

Yes, there may be familiar faces.

Thank you for opening this file.

See you in Episode 1.
