Now, it's just Seamus and Gabriel-and the road has never been crueler.
No-one can say for certain when the world ended, but most agree it was probably the day the dead came back to life. After that came sickness and change, and every man for himself.
The anchors on the news preached of safe havens in the south, disc jockeys promised survivors guards with guns and food, but there is nothing now but radio silence and empty streets.
What Seamus wants is North-a dead man's promise of a lonely land with open fields, a chance to start afresh, to build, to survive, to live.
All he has to do is get them there...
