I sat peering out the window, the view of the half green murky ocean with the grey cloudy sky, the sun nowhere to be seen. The steep cliff we where driving on had a metal bumper that looked dilapidated and damaged.
I looked to my lap at my little blue-hued folder with all the paperwork in. I caught a glimpse of the leaflet giving it a short read,
'The Nightingale Hotel, therapy without the therapists, five days in our beautiful hotel, 100% success rate'
There was more detail but I stopped, as it made me feel nauseous
I heard a few snaps and I jumped turning to my husband in the driver's seat clicking at me
"Hun where am I goin'?" He asks as we pulled up to a junction
"Uuuuhhh..." I said having to think as he caught me off guard
"Well you're the one with the directions" he sighed
"Give me a sec," I said looking through my file for the directions
"It's fine, just stop on the main road junction it's fine" he groaned tilting his head on his arm that was lent on the half-open window
"Right into Angel Avenue" I read
"Thank you" he sighed turning down the road, it was silent for a moment nothing but the whine of the engine and the whistle of the wind thought his window "I'm sorry okay, I shouldn't have got snappy..."
"I'm sorry I didn't have the paperwork out," I said back
"Hey, don't worry," he says settling his hand on my leg "we're goin' here for you remember Lisa, to make you all better"
"Thanks, Dan," I said forcing a small smile
"Awwww there she is" he smiled widely squeezing my leg before returning his hand to the wheel, "seems like forever since I've seen you smile at me"
"It takes a lot to smile anymore" I admit
"Whoa... Is that where we're goin'?' he asked as we turned and corner revealing a beautiful hotel perched on the edge of the cliffs it looked almost like it was carved out the mountains itself with old fashioned black arched windows and a water fountain in the driveway
"I think so" I answered
"Dam... It looks so much smaller online" he laughs
