The Queen of Abilakoth

Prologue

Prologue

Dec 28, 2017

I don’t want to do this, but the recent events that have happened leave me with no other choice. As I walk down this familiar corridor, all that can be heard is the shuffle of my wings and clink of my armoured boots on the hard stone floor resonating throughout the empty halls. My tail swished back and forth, similar to a anxious cat. The voices in my head where abnormally quiet as if silenced by the tension of what was about to happen.

I stop at a heavy wooden door with an intricately carved pattern on it. I reach out to open it but hesitate for a moment before entering. As I enter, tears start to well up in my eyes. When I enter, I see him sitting at his desk. He is the only one I could ever love so deeply. His golden blonde hair was messy, his sapphire dragon-like eyes were clouded with exhaustion and worry. When he saw me, he got up from his desk. His sapphire wings and tail dropped slightly before he pulled them back up not wanting to look weak, even if it was just in front of me. He was about to say something, but I stopped him, rushing up and kissing him before hugging him and crying into his shirt.

“Ssh, ssh. It’ll be okay. We’ll be okay,” he said in an attempt to comfort me, but it sounded more like he was trying to convince himself it was true. He brushed his hand over my right horn and down my hair, “Hey, I’ll find you when the time comes, alright?”

I look up at him, straight into his eyes, sadness shining in them. “O-okay,” I reply, unable to keep my voice from shaking.

“I’m going to miss you my love.” he said before planting a kiss on my forehead.

Our moment was ruined by a knock at the door resounding through the room. “Come in,” he called.

The door opened and my sister walked in. “I thought you would be in here,” she said, trying to keep her expression neutral, but I could see the deep sadness she was feeling through her amber eyes. “Are you ready?” she said with a slight waver in her voice. I nodded and gave him one last hug before turning back towards my sister and walking towards her. Before we left the room, I looked back at him to see tears well up in his eyes.

We walked through the corridors until we reached the room were we would separate. She threw her arms around me, embracing me tightly. “I’ll see you when the time comes,” she said, the sadness now evident in her voice.

I hugged her back, “See you when the time comes,” I said back to her before I entered the room.

The room was dark, so I had to light the torches before I went over to the table. It already had all the things I needed to perform the spell. Grabbing the book on the table, I opened it to the page that read The Legend of The Guardians at the top. I started performing the spell and as my memories started to fade, I slowly fade into darkness.
