“Please!”
I fell to my knees, bringing my hands together, “I’ll do anything you want!”
Tears rolled down my dirt-covered face and more tugged at the corners of my eyes, “I just want to get out of here…”
Standing before me was one of the greatest kings of our generation; Grand King Ambrosius Caesonia whom everyone calls “The Rainbow Lord”.
But he was also, my father.
“Anything?” A wicked smirk crossed his face, sickening my stomach.
For a split second, I regretted my decision. But I was tired of this hell that he had succumbed me to for the past seven years. A hell where I am locked within the Palace of Stars, in a room hidden behind a wall and handcuffed.
I was barely fed, watered, and given any sunlight.
I was dying– melting before his very eyes.
Some part of me assumed he enjoyed torturing me. Every visit for the last seven years, he has laid his hands on me. Kicking me. Punching me. Watching me bleed and scream out for being sorry that I was born.
“Anything!” I screeched, praying to the Gods that he could hear my pain.
“Then…” he squatted down, looking directly into my eyes, “You will no longer be Princess Rain. You will be a servant within the Lunate Palace, serving us– your family. Can you do that? Can you give up your title and serve us, Rain?”
I bit down on my lip, nodding my head and accepting my punishment for not only being his daughter but also the daughter of Evanore, an evil witch that he once upon a time, loved behind his wife's back.
But now his heart was filled with hatred from Evanore’s betrayal.
It was a betrayal I was told in passing before being handed over to become a Princess by my mother when I was five.
She thought it would be good for me to become something other than a witch.
“Then… it’s settled. I hereby strip you from your title as princess. You will no longer be a Caesonia. You will have no last name.” he stood to his feet and my head dropped, “You will have no relation nor will you call me by any parental names. You will address me properly.”
“Yes sir…” I sobbed.
My heart throbbed with pain. I never thought he would be this cruel to me.
“I will inform the guards to take you to the servants' quarters in the Lunate Palace. There, you will stay and learn to be of use to us.” He took a couple of steps towards the wooden door padded with locks.
He looked over his shoulder, “Do not take my kindness for granted Rain.”
Kindness? If this is him being kind, I can't imagine what it would be if he was mean.
“I won't sir. I’ll be good.”
Slowly he disappeared out of the single entrance, leaving me there until two guards wearing moon crest on their chests came and yanked me off the floor.
With one on each side, they dragged me out of my prison and into the moonlight-colored bedroom that smelled of dust. This was the first time in seven years that I saw what was outside my cell.
I had forgotten that I was located in a bedroom, behind a bookshelf where no one could hear my screams or cries.
The Palace of Stars was used for parties and so I could hear the music of the orchestra below, the vibrant conversations and laughter.
But they could never hear me.
I was nonexistent.
A phantom of my family's memories.
But now I will exist.
This time, as a servant to the very people I wanted to be a family with.
