I walk into the crowded restaurant, unusual for this time of day but no matter. A man sits in an empty booth, he's eating the Blueberry Pancake breakfast and across from him sits the regular Everyday Value Slam - my favorite. I walk over and sit across from him.
He looks up from his meal, swallows and gestures towards the breakfast in front of me. "I'm assuming this isn't a friendly meet up. Why'd you call me here Henderson? You should know I don't do Jobs anymore."
I grab the silverware to my left and start cutting into the pancakes. A moment passes as I take a bite before sighing. "I know Loft, but this, this is different. I called you here for something important, it's not a job, It's more of a Rescue."
His eyes go wide in surprise. "A rescue?"
"Yes, and it requires all of us. Do you remember the last time we went on a Job?"
His face goes grim and his tone drops, "Yes... I do. That was the day we lost Jerre. Why are you bringing it up?"
I take another bite of Pancake before continuing, "Well, I believe I've found something, something that points to Jerre not being dead."
"WHAT!?" The restaurant goes quiet, Loft clears his throat "Sorry." he says meekly. He repeats his statement, quieter this time but the same shock still obvious.
The last Job we went on Jerre was captured and we knew it was going to be difficult getting her back but then the building exploded and we thought she was a goner for sure. At least, until now...
"It's not much, but I've found pictures and videos from news clippings and interviews with her in them and her voice sounds just like it did before, except her name isn't Maya Jerre anymore, it's Lucielle Adam. I have a bad feeling about this and well, I need your help. Please..."
"What was she featured in the news for?" He asks
"I can't remember off the top of my head but i think she became CEO of a company we took down, which is why it bothers me.
His brows furrow. A million thoughts are probably going through his head right now, after all they were meant to get married not long after the Job.
After a few minutes of me eating and him thinking and eating he looks up.
"Alright Henderson, I'll help. Lets go get Cohen."
