It was the end of May and I am again at the bar, this is the fifth time I have been here just this week. I guess it’s expected of a twenty two year old who lost his family before he was twenty, and the sad thing is I used to celebrate this day every year until last year. Today is my birthday ,May 29th it’s also shared with my sister, Rin. She was beautiful long silky black hair, green emerald eyes with a beauty mark that laid under her left eye. Rin was the type of girl who stayed up all night and got up early in the morning to make breakfast. If she wasn’t at the house studying she was out with her friends. She passed away last year, ironically, the day that gave her life also gave her death. May 29th, our birthday, which is a mere coincidence,Rin was actually younger than me as my mom said on my fifth birthday, your present is someone to protect... This is the first anniversary of her death and as much as I would like to waste today to go to parties and to stripping clubs, like any other crazed person on their birthday I would rather spend it here. Sitting in a leather seat in front of a bar in the middle of New Jersey having an Irish drink because why else would I be here?
The bar was crowded and it was definitely loud, I lifted my rounded short glass to my mouth and as the drink tickled the back of my throat, as my glass slowly began to empty the bartender came to my vision. He was about twenty one and he was average height, he was wearing a grey silk vest with a white button up underneath and the arms rolled up to his elbows. His hair was a black messy sweepover, he has light narrowed and very bold green eyes his eyelashes are long. His jaw is chiseled and he was very skinny but he was toned and lastly I noticed his ears were pierced with studs. When my thoughts were unfogged and I sobered up a bit I realized that the bartender looked familiar, when he came over to refill my glass I got a closer look and noticed a scar on his hand. I only knew one person who has a scar on their hand and his name was Ezra, he was my childhood friend who had got the scar from falling off a tree that he climbed for a dare. I smiled as I brought the newly poured glass to my mouth and took half of the portion down my throat in one gulp. I lifted my head, straightened my back in a more proper posture and inhaled as I was about to speak.
“Do I know you?” Ezra asked as he had turned around in my direction.
“Yes, you are Ezra Corbett, right?” I had responded in a light friendly tone.
“Yeah I am, may I ask who you might be?” Ezra asked in a questioning tone in return.
“I am Tora Dupree, you might remember me from Murray Elementary School, except I would like to think I changed a bit” I jokingly remarked
