Here we begin a journey into the deepest cosmos, far beyond the plights of humanity, galactic progress at last!
Millions of years in the past, a fantastic war resulted in a third of the planet's Elfine residents being cast onto the Moon - a celestial and violent body. A storm-torn satellite which is tidally locked to the sun so that one half roasts in eternal heat and the other lingers in freezing darkness. The other two thirds of the population slowly descended into decay and self-destruction, to the point where history was forgotten by all Earthly denizens. Society would begin again in time, however.
In the present day, some University students from the city of Eggwinbruh mope around, as University students tend to, and count down the days to an apocalypse predicted by delusional TV people.
Meanwhile, the Moon Beasts go about their own days, paying little attention to the squabbling of mankind as they try to survive the little harsh world they've been trapped on for the past however long.
These two worlds collide - or at least, small parts of them do - in a cosmic game of Hnefetafl, where Moon Beasts and Humans alike play together to decide the past and future of their species, Universe and alternate versions of their reality.
Will the world be obliterated?
Will the suffering of the Moon Beasts ever end?
What will be the outcome of such cosmic Tafling?
Why Hnefetafl and not, like, snakes and ladders?
Why is there twenty-four coffins hidden within a cave somewhere in the Multiverse?
What is the meaning of life, and why is everything so dumb and stupid?
Why should you never EVER turn your back on a turtle?
I dunno, I'm sure it'll all be answered soon though in a future chapter of The Taflers! So, read it! :D
