I awoke to a dark, gloomy room. It had symbols all over the stone walls that I could not understand. I tried moving my limbs but couldn’t. I shot my head up and scanned the room drastically for some way of escaping. Something wet fell on my forehead and dripped down my face. I slowly lifted my head up, above me. What I saw made me shake in terror. The blood drained from my face. A void was open above me. It was not the void that scared me; it was what was staring back at me.
It was a massive creature. It’s eyes glowed, it had a squid like body, and long tendrils that were making their way into this world. I heard a scuffle and turned over to see my dad. He was wearing a cloak and had a devilish grin on his face.
“D-Dad why am I tied up? And, what is that thing?” I asked sheepishly gesturing my head towards the fiend.
“You see Sundew, you will be contributing to the greater good,” he said.
“The greater good?!” I yelled. “What are you going to do?” I asked.
“Oh my dearest daughter, you should know,” he said while pulling out a knife behind him. My eyes widened in fear. He walked closer to me--slowly lifting the knife up. I struggled hard to break free from the tethers holding me down. I screamed and thrashed about as he stood before me holding the knife up above his head.
“My sweet daughter,” he stroked my hair with one hand. “I will miss you but after this I will finally become a god by sacrificing you.” He raised the blade as I bellowed. I did not want to die like this. Tears streamed down my face as the knife pierced my chest. As soon as it did, the room started changing.
The walls were made of flesh. The air smelled rancid of death and decay. I wanted to scream but nothing came out when I did. Long tendrils slithered towards me as I inched back up against a rotting wall. I sat there, helplessly waiting for my demise. I longed for someone to help me but I knew no one would.
