The Vermillion Blade follows the story of Spero, a member of a race of beasts called the Prodigu. For almost all of history, the Prodigu have been in conflict with another race: humans, and this conflict has slowly been bringing the world to its knees.

Even though both races established peace almost 1,000 years ago, the humans have begun to oppress the Prodigu across all social facets, prompting rebellion. But Spero never wanted to be part of any of this.

As the tides of war begin to turn, Spero builds a forbidden alliance with a human girl who also cries for peace. But can they manage to save their world, or will they too fall victim to the curse of war?
