The day was as dry as a desert, clouds were covering up the sun. It seems like years since the sun has shined its light on the town in England, London. The newly established Big Ben hour hand was on three in the afternoon. A man in a dirty homemade sewn cloak was walking through the cold, foggy town going to the market street, straight to the local bakery.
Susie, a young blonde woman, was cutting a loaf of bread with the same worn out knife that she uses every day. A mysterious figure approaches Susie’s little shop in the dingy cloak, Susie jumps back as if she saw a ghost. Her luck seemed to be ending as if she saw a black cat. The figure moved his hand to his back pocket, Susie’s mind was racing, she didn’t know if to question what he was about to reveal to her from his pocket until it was too late. The man jumped in the window and revealed his flintlock pistol, Susie froze as if she was in an ice-cold river during the winter. She cried out “Don’t hurt the rest of them….”, then the man pulled back the trigger and the bullet was like a flash of lightning. Susie’s body dropped onto the ground bleeding out. The man realizes the blood would get everywhere, so he grabbed a beat up shirt he had with him and covered the body with it, before he could get on the run, he backed up into the knife that Susie was using and stabbed his hand, he decided to use this poor excuse of a weapon to cut off some of the shirt he covered the body with and wrapped it around his hand, then disappeared in the gloomy fog.
Anne, a black haired orphan who just moved in with a rich family, has begun to lose her memories of her life she had once before. All she did know was she was off to see her friend Susie to see if she could help with remembering her past, “around this time Susie is usually closing up shop, she’s going to love to have me as an extra hand” Anne thought to herself. When she saw Susie wasn’t there she decided to sit in the back of the open stand and wait for her, but when she went inside the shop she saw the body poorly covered up, Anne’s emotions were thrown out the window when she realized her closest lead to gaining her memories back was killed. The sorrows she felt wrapped around her as if they were vines. Anne wanted to cry, but in all shock she couldn’t. After all of the shock, Anne noticed the shirt that Susie was covered in and realized it was a shirt that the orphans wore, then she was getting a flashback to an earlier time of her life. In a younger year when Anne was still living in the orphanage. That night, Anne decided to run away from it and start a new life for herself, when she felt the fear of the darkness was getting closer into Anne’s skin, then she saw the tiniest of the flame of a candle. As she went to the light with caution, she caught the eye that it was a bakery, it was the only store open at the time. The lady at the front window was packing away her things. the lady saw the girl in fear and asked her if her parents were nearby, she answered, “I have no parents, well not anymore”. The lady replied, “so you're an orphan that lives at the orphanage, now it seems like you don’t know where you want to go anymore, now that you ran from a place you once lived before because you hated the site of it”. Anne stood there staring at the ground in thought, the lady said, “If you want to spend the night here, you can and maybe tomorrow we can find some people with money that can adopt you”. The rest of the flashback faded away from Anne’s mind, all she knew was that was the first time she ever met Susie. “Never shall I forget the sensation of awe, horror, and admiration with which I glazed on” Anne said to herself thinking about Susie's body.
After all that, Anne knew where her next stop was, the creepy orphanage. As she arrived at the very odd and worn out orphanage, her mind still felt empty of memories. Anne started staring at the window, she started getting another memory. It was at that window, for that window was the room that Anne lived in for two years of her life. This night hung around the room like a veil of death, creating an aura of terrifying stillness that even the clock’s ticking couldn’t break. A younger Anne on that night was thinking to herself while the giant of the moon’s light was shining on her until a man’s voice could be heard, he was yelling at Anne, it was hard to understand him as if he was drinking very heavily that night. Anne didn’t want to deal with a fight with the man, so she tried to push him out of the room, but she couldn’t handle the man. The man yelled out, “You orphans are hard work, but I do the hardest work around here and I’m still treated as if I was one of you”. Right before the flashback was over, Anne heard a gunshot coming from inside the orphanage, Anne started debating with herself if she should go in or not, but then the front door opened with the creepiest of sounds, Anne hid behind a bush in front of the orphanage. The person walked out, this person was very similar size as the person in her memory. The man had a cloak on and a familiar-looking silk cloth on his hand. What was on his hand was the answers to who killed her friend Susie. Anne called out to the man, “You! Over there”, but the man didn’t answer, she thought he was being rude because she said it pretty loud for him to hear.
At the moment she realized if she did this she could be killed herself, but she didn’t fear death like most people as if she felt it before in a dream. Then she knew she had to leave, so she started running not knowing where to go next. Anne heard the bells of a nearby church and glacéd over at a clock telling the time of 12 and she got flashes of a vision of her holding a stopwatch that showed the time being the same as the one she was viewing in present time. Anne didn’t want another flashback, for now, she feared her past, but the memory persisted. The memory was blurry as if it was crying, but through the unclear vision, Anne saw herself writing a note to someone. It was impossible to read that note on the desk as it was covered up with tears. Anne was at the house of her new family that adopted, Anne walked out of the room to the front door and looked back for she knew this was the last time she would look at this house, what felt like a couple of hours later, Anne saw herself in the middle of the forest, debating with herself on what she was doing, the flashback was still very vague, but the next moment you can see a person hanging on a tree with a rope as long as a snake and as strong as an elephant. At that moment Anne realized that she wasn't alive and she couldn't stop the murderer, she screamed out, but no one could hear her just like if she was in space, Anne's whole world was different to her now, she tried to cry, but still couldn't, she didn't know why her soul was still on earth and not heaven. The sun was going up over the river and Anne started to vanish and her soul was gone.
Life is rich and full of memories.
