Chapter 1
“¿Blurry?”
At the back of the room, I always feel alone.
As if I were isolated from the rest.
Quiet, not bothering anyone, but...
I always feel their stares,
the ones that pierce through the cracks I try to hide.
Aster was 17 years old,
and had a skill that no one noticed:
He could disappear without anyone noticing.
Not even his footsteps left a trace.
Was he blurry?
Maybe so.
People treated him as if he weren't there.
As if he were a background error in a photograph.
He didn't raise his hand.
He didn't answer the teachers.
He didn't look anyone in the eye.
He feared contempt.
He feared being judged just for being who he was.
He had learned to live with it.
And the few words that dared to come out of his mouth
sounded clumsy, weak, broken.
Out of place.
In his head, the conversations were perfect.
But outside...
only silence.
“Are you always so quiet, or is it that you have nothing interesting to say?” That phrase repeated itself inside him.
Could it be true? he wondered.
Maybe yes. Maybe no.
That doubt stayed with him like an anchor.
A weight that prevented him from moving forward.
He didn't cry in public.
He didn't show anger.
He just endured.
And he wrote things in his notebook that no one would see.
He also wrote down his dreams.
On the last page,
there was a sentence scribbled, as if hidden:
“I put a star locked inside. Would that be enough?”
No one knew.
But Aster shone.
He shone like a star.
Or like an entire galaxy.
Only he didn't realize it yet.
