“commander we have to retreat” one of my soldiers shouts as I get up from the last attack by the Ammazonians destroying the majority of the makeshift command centre we made.
“The Ammazonians are here to enforce the law of the council if they take you back to the city of thorns..” Jackson, one of my most loyal captains tells me. Fear fills his eyes as we see them charge forth on their pegasus steeds, dreaming of colouring their blades with our blood.
“I won't lose you or the rest of the men, how many are left still at this camp?” I ask turning round to my companion.
“ Most of the men have retreated successfully back to the refuge camp, out of the councils' jurisdiction, it is only you and the other 6 captains left on this field” he says to me.
I look down at my feet, at the men before me on the field of battle, their blood stains the fields crimson. The only honour I can give the dead is to prevent more from joining them until we can prevent the bloodshed which is bound to overtake the world.
“ I promised your wife I’d bring you back, Jackson you've served and you need to lead these men and women in the future,” I say turning to him as I sheathe my blade, with just barely enough elixir left in reserve for me to use my spirit dive one final time.
“ no NO we won't leave you, Commander, you're too young, you have to live your life ..” he responds as the others carry him away to the elixir circle and tears well up in his eyes.
“ my loyal captains, this war is not over, steel your resolve. lead the children of our country to freedom. “I cast my spirit dive, and the fibres of reality will bend to my will for one last time as I weave a new path for the teleportation back home of my soldiers opens.
“ May the stars lead you to victory, “ I say to Jackson
“ And you to a noble end, Commander “ he replies to me
the portal closes and the Amazons land outside the command centre which has been destroyed.
“ it seems time has caught up with me “.
