Five thousand years before 'The Breaking'... the Siblings, Ora and Veles, imprisoned the force known as The Void deep below the Eye of Nahuatl. With the aid of their Lessers, the Elemental Aspects, a seal is placed on the prison, ensuring that there is no escape.
In order to ensure the security of the seal, the Siblings create the Servants of the Scale, an ancient race charged with maintaining the six elements' hold on the Binding Seal around The Void's prison. However even this was not enough to stop The Void... merely contain It. It would bide Its' time, and it would use the immense magic of the Eye of Nahuatl surrounding It to aid in Its' ultimate goal.
Eventually, a minuscule crack in the seal is breached; The Void now has a tendril of freedom into the Realm of the Siblings. With it, it seeks out Veles, latching hold of His mind to slowly draw His sanity from Him. His Sister, Ora, feels His pain, their combined hurt being felt like a torrent across the Waking Realm as war breaks out over the world. (1/2)
--In the wake of the Breaking, catastrophic amounts of casualties occurred across Ila, tearing the world in two; the mortal race was on the brink of extinction. If there's one thing mortals are good at, however, it's surviving. Eventually, colonies began to appear across the lands (now called Aatos and Lur respectively), and society once more began to rise.
There is one other thing that mortals are often wont to be good at... and that, unfortunately, is forgetting. And oftentimes... it can prove VERY dangerous.--
Welcome to 'Through Hell or High Water'! This is a fantasy-based graphic novel series focused around a small group of unlikely companions who, through unseen outside forces, come together in order to try and stop the chaos of the Void from escaping its bindings and swallowing the Waking Realm into darkness for eternity.
This story also focuses on the best and worst elements of the mortal race as a whole, and the grey areas that hold us all together through the beginning of the end.
