Scene 1: The School Event
The school year has just started, and the entire school is buzzing with excitement for the annual talent show, which will showcase the best talents in their school. Students are scattered across the campus, hanging up flyers, rehearsing performances, and chatting about their dreams.
Zi is setting up a booth for the upcoming fashion show she’s organizing. Her eyes sparkle with passion as she arranges sketches of her latest designs. She’s determined to make it big in the fashion world, but her classmates don’t always take her seriously. Some think she’s just a dreamer, not realizing how much effort she’s putting into her craft.
Zy is pacing nervously by the basketball court. She’s been practicing for weeks, determined to show off her skills at the talent show and prove that she’s more than just an athlete—she’s a rising star. But her biggest obstacle is the pressure from her family to win, no matter the cost.
Sam, sitting in the library with a notebook, is quietly working on the first chapter of her novel. She hasn’t told anyone about her writing dreams—after all, who would believe a girl from a small town could be a real writer? Her friends know her as the girl who’s always buried in books, but Sam hides her true passion, fearing failure.
All three girls are from different circles, barely knowing each other, yet they all have one thing in common: they’ve been told that their dreams are too big. They meet by chance in the hallway when Zi accidentally bumps into Sam as she's rushing to prepare for her booth.
Zi: "Oh, sorry! I didn’t mean to—wait, is that a story you’re working on?"
Sam: "Uh, yeah... just something for myself." She blushes, unsure of whether to share more.
Zi: "Wow, that’s amazing! You write? I can never find the time for it, but I admire people who do."
Zy, overhearing their conversation, smirks as she walks by, clearly dismissing writing as "not important."
Zy: "You two and your fantasies. Fashion and books—dreaming won’t get you anywhere."
Zi: "Maybe you should try dreaming sometime. It’s harder than it looks."
Sam: "It’s not just dreaming. It’s about hard work... right?"
Zy looks taken aback, unsure how to respond. She’s used to everyone around her focusing on sports, but something about Sam’s quiet confidence sticks with her.
Scene 2: The Talent Show Auditions
Later that day, all three girls make their way to the auditions. The gym is packed with students showing off their skills, from dancers to singers, athletes to magicians. Each girl feels a mix of nervousness and excitement.
Zi is backstage, fixing a few last-minute details for her fashion show setup. As she watches the other performers, she feels a pang of doubt. Will her designs be good enough? Will people even care?
Zy is warming up for her basketball skills display, but she can’t shake off the pressure. Her parents expect her to win, and she feels the weight of their hopes on her shoulders.
Sam stands off to the side, quietly observing. She’s afraid to get up and read her work aloud in front of everyone, but she knows this could be her one chance to be recognized for something other than being the quiet girl in the back of the classroom.
Scene 3: The Turning Point
Finally, the time comes for each of them to perform.
Zi steps up to showcase her fashion designs. She nervously explains her vision, her hands shaking slightly as she presents her collection. But as she speaks, she starts to gain confidence. She passionately describes her dream of making a difference in the fashion world, and by the end, she leaves the stage with a small crowd clapping for her boldness.
Zy takes the court and performs an intense basketball routine. At first, it seems like she’s just another talented athlete, but she pushes herself further, breaking through the barriers of her own limitations. The crowd watches in awe as she nails every move, though the pressure to be perfect still lingers in her mind.
Finally, Sam nervously steps up to the microphone. Her heart pounds as she begins reading a short passage from her novel—a story about a girl who dreams of escaping her small town. At first, her voice shakes, but with each sentence, she grows stronger. By the end of the passage, the room is silent. It’s not a performance in the traditional sense, but her words leave an impression.
As the auditions wrap up, the girls find themselves at the back of the gym, glancing at one another. There’s an unspoken understanding between them. Despite the pressure, the nerves, and the doubts, they’ve all taken the first step toward their dreams.
Zy: "You were good... for a writer."
Sam: "Thanks... You were amazing out there."
Zi: "We all did our best. That's what matters, right?"
And for the first time, they realize they might not be so different after all.
