Ashter had been traveling for days, following the advice of a letter he was left by his mother and father. Telling him to go to the address for his grandmother's old house and a note of 'Go where it started'.
It was on the outer edge of the state of Bridsade, he got his first impression quite quickly: people staring, pointing, and whispering behind their hands. He knew something was wrong, but he couldn't put his finger on what it was. The worst part was how the people in the 'nice' looking cars stared him down as he passed. Did they already know who he was? Did they think he was someone else?
Ashter looked around the town, feeling more and more anxious. He couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched, even the birds and animals roaming the place avoided him. He decided to ignore the strange looks, and behavior then went on looking for his grandmother's old house. After a bit of searching, he came across a lovely manor, nestled in the mountain centered in the state park. It somehow felt familiar, almost like he had seen it in a dream. He knocked on the door, hoping to find answers, but all he got was a tap from woman behind him. "Are you Diorus by any chance?" The man nodded and turned to her. "Yes, i was told to come here but it seems no one is ho- '' She handed him a key and another letter and he looked puzzled as if he thought it must be a joke. He opened it to see only a few sentences written on the paper.
[ This is your house now, my son. You are now the holder of what's 𝓘𝓷𝓼𝓲𝓭𝓮. ]
He looked down at the keys and sighed softly while turning back to the door and feeling a hot shiver run down his spine. "... What do they mean by 'holder'? Maybe I should call a priest..." He mumbled to himself and was hesitant to open the door to the house.
It wasn't bad, more modern than he expected and had seemed like it was being cleaned regularly. “Why leave me something of this much value when I was the one you abandoned.” He said, setting his bag down by the door. “... What do you have planned?” He wondered looking around to find anything else that seemed helpful.
But as soon as he took a step the doorbell rang and he turned to open it. As he did there was no one there… What was his mind playing on him? That's when a little girl popped up, no older than 9 years old. She had no shoes and an outfit that looked pretty high class. “Yes-” She pushed her way inside and walked over to the closet not too far away to grab some little boots and then disappeared back out the door. He looked confused till an old man walked up to the door and smiled.
“She’s not one for manners, sorry. I’m Dan by the way. The gardener of the place.” Ash sighed and nodded. “Ah, it's nice to meet you I'm-” “Ashter Kole, I presume. We’ve heard a lot about your family.” Ash nodded and looked skeptical. “Does anyone else work here?” The man nodded and pulled out some papers. “There's a few maintenance workers and a cleaner that comes every week.” He said turning to the girl. “Lets go Katie, we have to get you home.”
Ash looked around and sighed once more before heading inside to find the room he’d sleep in, he’d look around more in the morning.
