In a land where gods have forsaken their creations alike, humanity is once again at war with itself.

Those with magic, the blessed, struggling to survive and dwindling in numbers against those who seek to kill off any remainders of magic in the human race.

Ardis is a young witch who lives in secrecy with her coven, after the great purge of witches nearly 800 years before her time . Her country, Acral, is lead by rulers who banished magic with the great collapse of the gods 1000 years prior. Magic use is punishable by death.

And so, the Vaellaen witches live in secrecy, in small remote communities off in the wilderness, sheltered from the modern world.

Their interactions with society are on an as needed basis , they’ll sell fresh produce when money is needed for clothes, hunting equipment , education for the newer generations. The main rule stands, no magic within city limits.

However, when arriving at the city one day, Ardis’s sheltered reality is broken wide open. A girl, no older then her, sits in waiting for her execution.

And in that moment, she made a choice, one that one change the trajectory of her life as she knew it.
